This is my mandriva Splash Screen for KDE4

For
1024x768

Howto (Mandriva 2009.0)

Rename the images in background.png and rectangle.png

Copy background.png in /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/1024x768/ (overwrite)

Copy rectangle.png in /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/1600x1200 (overwrite)

Open CONFIGURE YOUR DESKTOP - LOOK - SPLASH SCREEN select kde default theme
