Dark OpenOffice Splash
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
A dark OpenOffice splash for people who like the default one but dislike the colours.
Ubuntu users: Copy file as root into /usr/lib/openoffice/program/ and restart OpenOffice.
--Optional: complementary progress bar colour (instead of default blue)--
Open /etc/openoffice/sofficerc as root and change the progress bar colour to:
ProgressBarColor=220,220,220
Sorry, can't help with installation on other distros - not a Linux expert.

Mandriva Free 2010.2 32bit / Mandriva One 2010.2
/usr/lib/ooo/program/
files:
openabout_mandriva.bmp
openintro_mandriva.bmp
Mandriva Free 2010.2 64bit
/usr/lib64/ooo/program/
Same file names. I was not able to get my progress bar to display on this, but I don't really care, this splash screen is only up for 2.5 seconds before OO loads. Hope this helps all Mandriva GNOME users!
Great Splash! Looks great!

Copy it over: /usr/lib/openoffice.org/program/intro.bmp
For changing loading bar color, make similar changes in: /usr/lib/openoffice.org/program/sofficerc:
ProgressBarColor=220,220,220
