Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

Hey guys...been a little slow lately but we finally got version 6.6 Beta out. The beta is only in English and is missing GUIUninstall.sh but seems to work well so far. Im going to be doing more tests and tweaks on it before its a final 6.6.

Whats big in 6.6 is we replaced the BASH installer with a Python installer. It has a much better GUI and makes it so much simplyer to install.

Translations will be coming soon.

I'm really really novice in linux. The thing is that I install linux mint 11, update the system, change default language for spanish, install docky... all was running pretty fine... and then I install Win2-7 and add gnomenu to the gnome-panel... all looks like fine, but when a push the button doesn't show any menu... the default gnome-panel menu button works fine and the linux mint gnome-panel menu button works fine too.

Any idea what should I do???

Hmmm...I would try making a new panel at teh top of the screen 40px tall and adding all the stuff of the other other panel including gnomenu and see if it works...if it works then delete the panel Win2-7 made and move the one you made to the bottom.

I was taking a look at the Compatibility Chart, and I just realized that is missing some informations about Debian 6.0, or someone typed a wrong number. At the "Feature", you can see the 6.0, but at the "Advanced Features" and "Win2-7 Essentials" there are two Debian 5.0 and none Debian 6.0.

I have two problems with win2-7.

I installed the theme and everything went perfectly well except that there is no transparency whatsoever except for the bottom panel. None of the windows, etc.

Also when I add gnomenu to my panel, it won't open when I click on it. It just kind of dark but won't open. It works if I create a second panel on top of the desktop and add it there though.

Make sure your using one of the "True Aero" themes and have Emerald turned on using one of the True Aero Emerald themes.

Also True Aero only supports Mint 9 and 10 and Ubuntu 10.4 and 10.10

Hmm...strange. You could create a custom panel at the top of the screen, make it 40px tall, remove the bottom panel and move the top one down and add Gnomenu, Dockbar X, Notification, click and ShowDestkop manually.

Thanks for the help. Great theme by the way!

I reinstalled everything and for some reason gnomenu works fine now. However the window decorations still aren't transparent. I started up comiz fusion icon and switched the windows decorator from GTK to Emerald. When I do that the windows decorations disappear all together.

Any ideas?

Iv had this happen before if the graphics card does not support emerald.

You could try running the command: "emerald --replace" from a terminal which is what compiz fusion icon does.

I would ask around on a emerald fourm.

i have a Problem.. i have install the Win2-7 pack Version 6.6 but i have not the Effekt for the Windows Start button or the other effekt..

can anybody help me?

The Pack did not install properly. It is only compatible with Debian 5.0 and 6.0.

You should of gotten a warning when you installed.

Awesome Theme Guys! Congrats!

I got one question, I can't open the compatibility list (picture), so I'm asking, Ubuntu 11.04 and Mint 11 work with win2-7? , I've opened the installer and It says two things, that the windows manager cannot be found(gnome cannot be found) and that my linux version is not probed yet (Mint 11). should I give it a try anyway? Thx btw, Mint uses GNOME 2.32.1 and 2.6.38-8-generic kernel
