Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

Sorry guys, iv been real busy today and i havent seent Jesus on, he does not get on during weekends i guess.

I think the pack keeps getting removed cause of the copyright issues, we are trying to resolve these but it is no easy task.

Well try uploading to other mirors untill we can get our own private server again.

We really are in need of a FTP server with about 1GB of space. If anyone has one we can use that we can make a account on we would be very thankfull!

My computers off for tonight but in the morning before church ill try to do a upload to megaupload.com and see how long that lasts.

Why not create a free dropbox account for this pack? It has up to 2GB of space for free.

We tried that about 6 months into the project and in about 2 hours our account was locked due to obsessive downloading lol.

Ill PM him about his server tommrow.

would you mind providing a sha1 or md5 hash of the lzma file (version 6.2) so that I can check the integrity of copies I find elsewhere on the internet, please?

Sure. The official Win2-7 Pack "should" have the following hashes:

MD5: 40d356e31af6a09e67800c7775fb7eff

Hope thats answers your question.

Also the pack includes our GPG public key and signatures of the install and uninstall scripts for you to verify if your capable.

Also the pack "Should" attempt to verify those signatures on install and give a warning if the script was changed.

Hi guys,

First of all, thanks a lot for that awesome pack ! I'm a Linux newbie and I have to say, for now, I miss a few things about windows 7, therefore I'm glad I can customize Ubuntu with your pack.

Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to re upload the French or English FAQ as I would like to do every changes I need manually. I already did a few ones on my own and it helps me to understand how Ubuntu works, that's a lot better than an automatic install in my opinion when you have no idea what's happening.

Sadly I didn't have any copies of the FAQ's on hand when the server went done and unless im wrong I think they are forever lost. The information however was very minimal, so its not much of a loss. The links will be removed when Jesus fixes the download link.

Unfortunately I have little or no documentation on the technical details of how the pack is installed cause I haven't had time or interest to write any. Most users just want it to "work" and don't care "how" it works, and the script does a very good job at this.

The only real way you could figure out how the script works is to read the script carefully line by line and ask any questions after you have reviewed it. If you know anything about bash, most of it should be self-explanatory and should be a good learning experience.

I like this theme a lot. Keep up the good work. But to be absolute perfect it must include a windows 7 login as well. Sorry for my bad english.

Its a bit of old code that i thought I removed...but after the release i figured out that there still was a bit, im not sure why its affecting random users (iv noticed 1 in every 75 or so). It will be fixed on the next update...May be a few weeks...Jesus is still working on the GPL icon pack.

Ahhh!

Turns out that is a mislabel error msg lol. Oops. I should be more careful when I Copy and Paste XD.

What that error "should" say is that you are attempting to install the pack as root and GUIInsall.sh must be ran normal (./GUIInstall.sh from a terminal) or double clicked on.

Least that should be whats going on. It will be fixed in 6.3.

Alright. 6.3 is not near ready yet...

But Ill ask Jesus to update the FAQ on how to manually change the GDM once I get the instructions figured out. :) Its real easy...just got to get it out on paper.

My only guess would be its relies on the the password for the GDM account to be the same as the root account which would be the same as your user password....If your password is not the same as the root password it wont take it...but thats just a guess out of thin air...

Here is a official release of 6.2.

Its hosted on Hotfile.com:

Its only a temperately link and will be taken down when the mainpage is updated.

Also the Non-Microsoft Icon pack is still in the works.
