==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

Hi there, I suggest you a new feature for your theme pack, a windows to linux theme converter.

The steps are very easy, you need 7zip installed:

1) rename THEME.msstyle into THEME.7z
2) extract

Then you can read the infos in the main file and use the background images as you wish.

;)

I'm eagerly waiting for 6.1 version with bug fixes, especially the one which causes white font for Places, System Menu.

Another bug report while using Evolution. The white fonts makes it difficult to read.

Distro Ubuntu 10.10

And thanks for incorporating the additional icons in Ubuntu Software Software.

ok guys don't worry I'm here lol

first of all thank you for reporting that nasty bug, I personally don't use Evolution hehe but there's always a first time... the bug is already fixed, I'm gonna send the update to dart00 with a couple of improves for uploading

if you wanna fix it in the meantime by yourselves:

go to gtkrc file of the theme you want to fix (this issue is present on Win2-7, Win2-7Original and all murrine themes)

look for this line
widget_class "*Mail*" style "panelbg"
and add a # before the line to comment it, save it and refresh the theme

Don't forget to comment, and vote up guys

These two are the images of my desktop. My problem is that the size of icons in the notification area applet are quite uneven. But when i saw the size of icons in the pics given on this page they were so even and windows7 like.

Kindly help me how to adjust the size of these icons.

oh I see, in other distros:

-battery
-network
-sound

are displayed on the notification area applet and ubuntu uses "indicator applet" for displaying them, in fact the only one who remains on notification area applet is network icon but there's a link on the links section for changing it to indicator applet

maybe you can also have this by finding how to install indicator applets on Fedora =D if we find something, we'll let you know folks

I was able to resurrect an old 900mHz computer with the help of Ubuntu 10.10 and this amazing theme. This revitalized computer is now being used by my kids (two of them are under 5 years old).

This theme has helped them feel at home with the new OS, and can independently operate the computer.

At least ten other families have taken a cue from this and have done this at their homes too.

The trend I see here is that this theme is helping to initiate a lot of people into the wonder-world called Linux.

Thank you for coming up with the theme. Your attention to detail is incredible (special reference to the boot-up logo among others).

Well that's one of our main purposes, not everyone is able to use the latest on tech and effects, but a picture's worth a thousand words, the boot up logo was actually made by Moony and Schiwi if I'm not wrong, hehe

Hmmm...if u installed everything it should not look like that. I think this is more of a issue then a bug.

Backup all ur files
Reinstall Ubuntu 10.10
Install all updates
Download Win2-7 version 6.0 and install it before
u install any other software. useing Turbo Mode installing all Win2-7 Essentials.
Restore ur backed up data and reinstall ur programs

After you have done all these steps, post screenshots of the results.

Hello! I love this project and surprised how well was it made. I though have one question. Is there any way to make the distance among the icons in the indicator applet smaller? I always feel icons too crowded in my panel, and if it's possible, I would like to have more free space for other icons... Thank you very much and keep up the good work!! Very very satisfied!
ps. Sorry, just one another thought. I think it would be great if there are more color variation for the window borders like Windows 7! (Yes, I change the color all the time if I can. :-)) Thank you!

Hey, Thanks for your interest in the pack. AFAIK the spacing in the notification area, indicator applet...etc is set :( BUT I could be wrong if you look hard enough. If you find a way let us know and well post a link about it.

What you could do is make another panel on to top of the screen thats 40px tall and add launchers up there and use the bottom panel for minimized applications and notification area?

Also check out Emerald, (it installs with win2-7 essentials). It has many many colors you can choose. (Metacity colors is limited for the moment). You can set Emerald to the default Window decorator using "Fusion Icon".

Maybe we could add more metacity colors if Jesus is up to it. ;)

Thank you! Yeah, it was emerald themes that I wanted! Perfect! I removed the Icon sets and notification area theme (I love the Windows look, but not the Windows logos hehe) but rest I maintained. It looks so good. Thank you!

An Icon Theme should have a valid .theme file among its files and aim to be complete for desktop use under Gnome or KDE Plasma.

If it contains only a single icon or a small set of icons, please use the Icon Sub-Sets or Single Icon/Logo categories instead.
