Description:

Simple started in 2009, and was continually updated till June 2010, where the idea was to create the most modern and visually pleasing icon theme for GNOME 2.x. Simple 2.7 builds upon 2.6.5 designed for GNOME 2.x and has been updated for GNOME 3.x / Unity while keeping backwards compatibility with GNOME 2.x

All previous versions including Simple Extra downloads can be found in the provided link

- Please feel free to comment on any issues or problems with Simple.

- Please remove previous versions before upgrading for best results

- Thank you to all the people who have helped improve this icon theme through feedback and comments

I have improved that icon in 1.5 but thanks for sending feedback again

Sorry for delay in updates but i been very busy with work and such.

Hopefully i will be able to release 1.5 Sunday or Monday.

I actually really like the nav icons. The only thing that would look more consistent would be the kde icon but, like I said, the ones used here look grat I think.

I personally like the nav icons as well, I would include an extra option in Simple Extras, so people can choose.

What do you mean by the KDE icon?

At the minute i have included both KDE4 and Oxygen icon straight from the KDE SVN.

If you have any more ideas or feedback, post a comment and i will look into the problem.

What I meant by "kde icon" was kde4 icons. I was in a bit of a rush when posting that. Including the kde4 icons sounds like the logical move.

I will include the KDE4 nav icons in future extra releases, to allow future choice.

your theme is very good, very cosistent, a really eye candy.

the only thing I dislike is the navigation buttons, it could be more consistent, more solid.

Great theme, thanks a lot, it's my new icon theme, i think for a long time. =)

But just a detail: why the OGG files appears different from the others audio formats? (FLAC, MP3, MIDI, etc are the same art...)

I have trouble with Rhythmbox as to ratings. You can rate songs from 1 to 5, but Simple always displays 5 stars, regardless of the real rating. Works with other themes.

Thanks for the comment, I recently was trying out a few things (pre - 1.3) and forgot to remove them icons but your comment just reminded me, thanks.

BTW the reason for no releases recently is the computer which runs ubuntu, the hard drive died recently and I have only just been able to swap it over for another 80GB hard drive.

Thanks for the update. Glad to see the classic oxygen style docs made it in there. How you switched around the archives so the fold is in the bottom right is pretty cool too--still, I think the oxygen archive would look better, but thats just my opinion. Any way we can get the old blue home folder back? The new one just doesn't look right on the desktop--it looks good in firefox though like it was before. Anyway, thanks again for the update. Keep up the good work.

The home icon was trial idea, too see if people think we should use the folder or the home icon.

Thanks for the feedback, I have reverted to the folder icon and included the oxygen archive icons in extras, as to allow people to choose.

I am still currently trying to fix the rhythmbox icon - "Artist Information"

And plan to release 1.4 in the coming days.

Thanks for the image and feedback, but I have known about the icon missing for Artist Information for sometime but I have not been able to find the image name I need.

I have downloaded the source code for Rhythmbox and looked at the icons included but still can't find the needed information, if you know the information for either I would be very thankful and I could then include needed changes in 1.4.

For version 1.2, I only replaced the Microsoft Office icons with the oxygen style icons for a better consistent look, as I believe you were right in that aspect.

However I feel having different icons for OpenOffice and MS Office makes it easier to tell what format they were saved in.

Due you believe all documents should have same icon set?

Or do you think I should just use the default oxygen icon set from the KDE SVN for both MS Office and OpenOffice.

Your viewpoint would be good and I will be interested to see what you think.

I see what your saying. Having a different set for MS documents does make it easier to tell formats apart. Still, it just doesn't look right having two, very distinct looking, sets of document icons in one theme set. That being said, I think your right in wanting to make it easier for people to tell formats apart. What I was thinking was overlaying the various standard oxygen docs with a simple "MS" or similar in the upper right hand corner. Since we are on Linux, we don't need to id openoffice, Koffice, or abiword docs in this manner since it is MS who is the odd man out. Something simple like that would both maintain the theme's consistency and remind people what is MS and what is not. Let me know what you think.
