Description:

A dark and simple gtk-theme.

note
As of version 1.0 this is not a murrine-theme anymore! I got tired of the murrine-look so I switched completely to pixmaps.
I hope you like the look of the new buttons, scrollbars etc! :)

new
I've included media-control-icons for gtk that matches the Neutronium DeepBlack Style.
To use them just copy the content of the 'icons' folder to the theme dir of your current icon-theme (~/.icons/*theme*).

Black on black?

fg #4d4d4d
bg #121212

...and Pidgin(Gaim) uses this colors. Dunno why it's black on black for you, maybe you set up custom chat colors somehow.

I think I've found a bug on your theme.

When I try to open OpenOffice, in which, if I'm using your theme, it doesn't open.

The applications that don't open are the Writer and the presentation creator.

The Spreadsheet and the Database creator work.

When I try to open the Writer through a terminal, it gives the following error:

Quote:rolando@rolando-desktop:~$ openoffice

(soffice.bin:30503): Gtk-WARNING **: Incapaz de localizar motor de temas na module_path: "murrine",

The Portuguese is something like "Incapable of find the theme engine on module_path: "murrine",".

Nice theme by the way :D

Hm, looks like a problem with the murrine-engine. Have you tried updating it yet?

Like I thought this problem occurs with other dark themes as well, it's a firefox issue.
I've included a Readme file in the theme with instructions how to fix this problem. Just redownload the theme, follow the steps descriped in the Readme and the web elements will show up correctly in firefox again! :)

Yeah, I noticed it on youtube (search box). Well, I'm not sure if this can be fixed in the theme.
I guess the searchboxes on some sites are using the interface bg and button color with a black foreground (text). While having a theme with a white bg thats no problem but this theme is designed to have a black bg and white fg. I'll try to fix this when I'm @ home.

I love dark themes like this, but the one problem to my eyes is that controls such as tabs, window borders, menu highlights and many others are actually quite hard to see since they're dark on an already dark background. To this end, I may make a mod of you're theme the next time I have a little time if you'd prefer to keep it this way (since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all).

Yeah, I changed some colors in v0.7 but v0.8 is a bit more friendly to the eyes. I'll release it soon together with a matching emerald theme.
Either way, feel free to make a mod. It would be nice to see more dark themes around here! ;)

It's a very nice theme, but can you consider making a lighter theme? Perhaps a grayish tone, or some other colour. The jet black colour can be quite overwhelming and hard on the eyes after a while.

Thx!
Sry but the reason I made this theme is that I wanted a really dark one (light black) that looks good on my tft but all themes that I found where too much greyish for my taste.

There are already a few greyish themes around, check out these ones:
