GTK2 Themes

Description:

Victory is a bright, flat, and minimalist theme. This theme was made using, and primarily for use on, Xubuntu and Lubuntu 16.04 thru 18.04, but should work fine with any XFCE/LXDE-based distro. Gtk3 elements should work on Gtk 3.18 (Ubuntu 16.04) and above. Even though a Gtk3 theme is provided, I have not tested it on Gnome3, so please report issues. As of the 18.07 release, Gtk3 theming has become the primary focus, and as of this release, all Gtk3 elements should be themed correctly. I've also included variant borders and styles for Openbox and XFWM, as well as a notification theme for XFCE. Again, please let me know if anyone has any problems, thoughts, constructive criticisms, etc.

Thanks again everyone... I really appreciate all the feedback, votes, and comments!

I have also recently set up Patreon and Liberapay pages for those interested in supporting my work, and any contributions are greatly appreciated:

++ Installing ++

To install, downloaded the tar.gz, open it and extract the folder of your preferred theme into your ~/.themes folder (if your home directoy does not have a .themes folder, create one). Then open your desktops Appearance Manager to select the theme.

+ Appearance Managers

- XFCE: xfce4-appearance-settings (for Theme/Controls)
- XFCE: xfwm4-settings (for Window Border)

- LXDE: lxappearance (for Theme/Controls)
- LXDE/Openbox: obconf (for Window Border)

+ Theme Directory is located at /home/USERNAME/.themes

----------------------------------------------------------

++ Configure ++

You can modify the colors and change some styles in the /home/USERNAME/.themes/victory-gtk-theme/gtk-3.20/gtk.css file. Open that file and you can change the colors. At the bottom you can uncomment lines for various custom styles that will affect certain applications or parts of the theme (more styles to be added later). The picture for this theme is using Thunar, for example, with the thunar custom view line uncommented. This removes the back/forward/home buttons from thunar and makes the location bar take up all the space.

++ Credits ++

In the first preview image I am using the Victory Icon Theme and the wallpaper Flow by tri5tian here on this site. Icons used in the second image (temporarily removed until I have time to re-add the color variants after the 18.07 release) include Boston icons, Arc icons, Papirus icons, Breeze icons.

I'm not sure why it would do that. Does it happen when you open/save things, too, on that bar? Anyway, yeah, you could try editing the gtkrc. Try and see if this works:

Find:
Quote:
style "nautilus-toolbar"

...
GtkButton::inner-border = {0, 13, 0, 0}

and try changing the 13 to something higher. Let me know if that helps or not, and thanks!

have you tried setting "show like breadcrumbs" in the preferences menu under the tweak tab to true?

Sorry, I don't know anything else that might help. Under "style "nautilus"" you could try changing the xthickness, but I don't think that will work either, if the above didn't work.

Do normal themes that have buttons for the path bar look smashed together like that, too?

No luck. Every nautilus elementary themes looks smashed, exept this. This is the only one that works for me. Sad but true

Nice theme!
Simple, elegant and unboring!
I hope you fix the icon-size-slider in nautilus 2.30, because it's a pity!

For the icon slider, I was going to use the volume slider, but it would've made the statusbar bigger, and was kind of distracting. Let me know if you like how it turned out or not.

Thanks a lot for the input!

Thanks! That's ok, don't worry about it. I'm glad you posted that picture, I wasn't even sure what it'd look like! Does the places bar look ok? I tried Nautilus 2.30 just on a Lucid 10.04 Live CD, and it was much worse than that. It does some weird stuff.

I posted about it here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1459738

Once I get Lucid on here, I'll try to make a new version for it. But Picture 4 in that thread may be as good as I can get 2.30.

Thanks again!

I've spent an hour but i find that if you comment:
class "*Nautilus*Window*" style "nautilus-sidebar-title" #Background of Sidebar Title bar.

Nautiuls apparence is fixed, but Background of Sidebar Title bar is not fixed...

Thanks for trying. I appreciate the help. This is the best temporary solution I could figure out right now:

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/nJLemOQVhHlLk-VO1DmNag?feat=directlink

If you change everything under

Quote:style "nautilus-sidebar-title-text" to: @selected_bg_color

and everything under

Quote:style "nautilus-sidebar-title" to: @bg_color

It should help some. I don't think that will fix the icon size slider or Icon View button, but I'll have to look more at that when I get Lucid on here. Sorry! Let me know if that helps any.

I think that:
class "*Nautilus*Window*" style "nautilus-sidebar-title" #Background of Sidebar Title bar.

Sets all widgets' properties in nautilus.

So that's not "correct", because we only want to change the "Places Title Bar"..

I've inspected nautilus' source code and i don't understand why set:
"*NautilusSidebar*HBox*"
doesn't work..

Yeah, I don't get it either. I tried, but couldn't figure it out. It's like the class Window should theme only the window. The Sidebar title/Pathbar/Statusgrip should be themed as widget, but it's like they're transparent.

The more I played around with it, the more weird things I found with Nautilus 2.30... which is why I had to make Elementary its own versions, because when you hide the Pathbar, it doesn't hide all the way. It leaves a few pixels as shadow. It's ugly.

Well, I hope it turned out decent, anyway. Let me know if it's ok, and if you figure anything out with that.

Thanks a lot for the help and everything.
