Hi everybody!
Users who don't know anything about KDE, are not that motivated to investigate its inner workings and only try it for a while are often disappointed and stop using it after 5 minutes. :-/
Had they tried it for a little bit longer or with a different configuration, would they say 'Oh my god! It's incredible how good and easy it is!' ;-)
Knome is the perfect way to (re-)discover KDE, especially if you're coming from Ubuntu with gnome-'human theme'.
I modified some KDE-native features to ease the learning-curve of KDE use:
- Only apps from the current desktop are shown in the taskbar
- You can move from one desktop to another using 'Ctrl+Alt+Arrows'
- Taskbars and menus have been reorganized
- Double-clic needed to open folders and files
- 'Ctrl + H' shows/hides hidden files in Konqueror
- 'Opera mouse gestures' with right button have been enabled in Konqueror
- Wallpaper and theme are 'Ubuntu-Human'
- Many others I forgot....
####### To install it #######
### Basic concept ###
-you need KDE 3.5.* (might work with former versions...)
-backup your actual .kde and .qt folders
-download the attached file
-extract it in your personal folder
-relaunch KDE
### Via terminal ###
cd
tar cvfz backupKDE.tar.gz .kde .qt
wget http://www.kde-look.org/content/download.php?content=39001&id=1
tar xvfz 39001-knome.tar.gz

As you said: you should have posted it on a gnome-site because THERE are people who might change.
I'm not gonna vote for this app because I'll never try it out.

May I ask how this is accomplished? I've been 'tinkering' with gesture settings in KDE control center, but no luck thus far.

So:

>Input actions
>'Gesture setting' tab
>Untick 'Disable mouse gestures globally'
>Mouse button : 'Button 3 secondary'
finally, you can configure your gestures using the 'Konqueror gestures' tree.

The user is not so much confused by the number of options available in front of him, but more by the options he can't find.

I like your personalisation of KDE, I changed a lot of these things just as you did before I could actually work.
Single clicks for opening files increases the probability of accidently opening files, applications or folders; furthermore I was used to select files with a single click.
And I don't think that showing applications in the taskbar from all desktops fulfills the purpose of multiple desktops.
Nonetheless, I don't think this is the right place to put your little improvement, and a lot of users would just look at the screenshot, see that it's not the greatest style and vote for 'bad' - and don't even read what it's actually about.
I'd rather think it's a KDE Improvement.
