Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
well, maybe this is not a real _kde_ improvement, but i think this fit to "XPish Konquisidebar" from "axeljaeger
", see:

---
this controlpanel is a preview, though, maybe 99% of the html-files are done and usable, as you can see in the screenshots.
there is a nice option in konqui-filemanager.. if entering a directory, konqui can automatically "load/view" the index.html file.
and, about the xp-controlpanel style.. well, of course, if there are good artists.. feel free to design a controlpanel diffrent from the xp-style.
if there are some requests for the html-files.. i could upload them. maybe adjustments have to be made in the code to fit to your Linux-Distribution.
thanks for your interest.. :)

uploaded 2nd release for testing and more ;)
well..
unpack it into your home directory,
and when you browse into the folder, you should enable the option "use index.html" in the "View" Menu of Konqueror.
if your system is SuSE 8.2 with KDE 3.1.3 and installed as User (not only as root) then maybe you don't have much problems :)
links to local crystal icons theme removed, instead, added all icons into this package.
if you like to exchange the green arrows with i.e. blue ones of the same style, have a look into the directory "images". then you could replace the image-name in the code or simply rename the arrow-images ;)
Example:
arrow-right_transcorner.png ->
arrow-right_lightblue_transcorner.png
or ->
arrow-right_blue_transcorner.png
P.S.
This is XP Style, if you don't like it, shut up and make a new style, and upload it :P
thx, and have FuN!

Nice to see KDE to be flexible enough
to look like any other desktop
(OS X, Win XP) but KDE can perfectly
stand on its own "open-source-feet" IMO.
I'm using Plastik+Noia Icons and really
like it's look. Why do we need to copy
the look of Windows XP?
BTW: This might be copyrighted by M$ anyway.

:)
P.S.:
By the way, did you ever compared the Crystal-iconset to the XP-Icons ?? no ?!
you should, because that might be the best quality of copy i have ever seen, and these icons are the standard for KDE and many Distributions like SuSE, etc. (but i don't care on that, i like them anyway :P)

Don't get me wrong, you did a nice job painting that horses rear end, but its still butt ugly.
Sorry, just had to say it.
Don't make Linux more like windows.
There's enough bad already in XP to last
a life time.

Open kcontrol. On the left you see a tree structure of links, and on the right side there's a HTML view. Is it possible to put the html view into konqueror? I know that you can change the html-files of kcontrol. But only putting these files in wouldn't be enough, they'd only work if the kcontrol plugin is loaded.
So could anybody put kcontrol into konqueror? this would be great!

Or better yet; mix the OS X and XP one: best of both worlds :)

the controlpanel is just a kind of "test" how to make a category-controlpanel for konqueror using html. well simple yes. but anyway, it is not possible (not easy) to map all the functions to diffrent Distributions.. for example, calling diffrent dialogs from the Distribution, SuSE has got its Yast, Mandrake has something else, and redhat, and other..
well, i could map only kde-related functions to the controlpanel, maybe i will do that, i don't know yet..
www.lycoris.com
has got such a controlpanel too..

Mission Control is in turn derived from a control panel in another linux distro:
