Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
This is a modified pager applet for kicker to make it work with
compiz. More generally, it is intended to work with window managers that use
the concept of "large desktops" instead of "multiple virtual desktops" as kwin
does exclusively.
Technically, it is a matter of respecting window managers standards as defined
by EWMH (http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/wm-spec-1.4.html), using the
facilities already provided by KDE.
The code is based on the minipager applet taken from kdebase-3.5.4.
To install the package, follow the generic instructions found in the INSTALL and README files.Once it is installed, use the kicker dialog to add a new applet, and the pager
will appear in the list.
The code should soon be hosted somewhere in the KDE svn, hopefully to be merged in one of the next releases.
Enjoy !

kicker-compiz 0.2
-Viewport numbering is ok
-Handles both vertical and horizontal viewports, for the plane plugin
-vertical kicker is ok
Know buggy or can be improved
-Window drag&drop does not work reliably when dragging from a viewport
different from the current one
-small graphic glitches (seams) for certain panel sizes, due to
rounding errors
kicker-compiz 0.1
Initial release, beta quality
Currently working:
-pager has the good size, displays windows correctly
-current viewport is highlighted
-click to switch to another viewport
Known buggy or can be improved:
-Window drag&drop doesnt work reliably
-Aspect ratio is not respected when using kicker is vertical

beryl 0.2.0 PRE
xorg 7.2 RC3
AIGLX i810 driver with dri enabled
Number of different issues:
- contents of viewport/"desktop" are not shown in pager
- doesn't put viewports/"desktops" in rows as specified in configuration
- various other "glitches" _primarily_ after a reboot/restart of X, probably related to the startup order of the pager vs. the 3d desktop (in other words, works fine when initially added to panel--after beryl is running--but if started before beryl, all kinds of issues)

The kicker applet works perfect.
Just wanted to know if there are shortcut keys to navigate among the Workspaces.

beryl&
emerald --replace
on a startup script, and i guess the pager is started before my script runs so i get only one desktop, after i remove and readd the pager from the panel it works fine again, can you fix this?

In other words, I can move windows around on the pager, but if I move them into the bottom two thirds of the pager, they dissappear off screen and are not accessible.
I don't know if it's because I have a widescreen monitor & this only works with a 4:3 geometry, but that shouldn't give a 1:3 mismatch anyway!

I have found a bug:
your pager don't show correctly the miniature of the maximixed window in face number 4 of the cube of compiz (aiglx ), if the current face is number 1.

then , kde detects all 4 desktops ( alowing even to set diferent wallpapers for each one )
the only thing missing is switching desktops.
for this , your pager works, but has some issues.
could you please work on this, so that its usuable ?! ( one could have four cubes , for example )

I was runinng compiz on aiglx with KDE. Although the default multi-desktop software could rotate the cube when i clicked on each desktop it would not show the mini-view of the windows present on each desktop. Now finally multi-desktop switching works properly and I can see which desktops have apps running on them thanks to this plugin.

I really needed this...
Just one reqest: can you add the possibility to change the layout?
In fact, the desktops are always placed horizontally, and on a large panel (my panel height is 52 pixels), they occupy a large amount of space!
It would be great to set up, for example, 2 desktops per row (like default Kpager does), so with 4 desktops/viewports we can have 2 rows, and in each row 2 desktop (for example...)
Keep up the good work.

The only problem I encountered so far is that somehow the thumbnails of the first viewport get lost whenever I switch to the fourth viewport. They reappear when switching to viewports one or two.
Thumbnails on the fourth viewport disappear when switching to the first and reappear when switching to the third or fourth. Thumbnails on the viewports two and three never get lost.
I am using the standard setup of four viewports by the way.

Three small glitches so far:
1. Mouse wheel is really most needed feature.
2. That is impossible to use it on vertical panel with 8 workplaces. They are so small.. :-)
3. On horizontal panel it want not to switch into two-rows mode -- all 8 workplaces are drawn in top row.
Again: thank you very much! Please not drop you work.

Thank you very much for the applet.
Could be possible to switch desktop with the wheel mouse? it works on the desktop, but not on the applet, would be great!
Using it right now with beryl! and new nvidia beta drivers 9xxx
