Description:

Improved Webbrowser and Filemanager profiles for Konqueror:

- Location Toolbar integrated into Main Toolbar
- Uncluttered Main Toolbar
- Removed some filemanager-only menu entries from the webbrowser profile and vice versa

Only in the Filemanager profile:
- Added "Amarok-like" incremental search field to the Main Toolbar (cool, hidden feature, see screenshot 3)

System Requirements:
- KDE >= 3.4
- no root account required for installation!

Installation:
1. Download and uncompress
2. Run ./install
3. Logout from KDE; Login to KDE
4. Search your Konqueror-browser icon (desktop, kicker,...) and right-click on it. Select "Properties". Click on the "Application" tab and replace the command with "konqueror --profile webbrowsing". Do this for all Konqueror-browser icons.
5. Done

Manual installation:
Copy contents of the package to ~/.kde/ and do steps 3 to 5 (see above).

The install script creates backup copies of all changed files.

How can I disable or disinstall this ?
Because I set it but now it doesn't like to me anymore.

Is there any way to set this for all users and newly made users? Do you put it into the KDE dir (/opt/kde for me)? It would be great if this would default for everyone that uses my computer.

I have used same layout (my version is very simple) and only thing what i want is that "filter" menu to maintoolbar too. How i can get it there without installing this?

One thing I wish was possible was different size icons for web and file. Right now this isn't feasible, and with all the other things that need doing, I don't think it ever will be. (I've managed, but it took some doing, and a patch)

After (an i think --- because of) installing of this, web archiver, which is oftenly used mby me, became dropped... Is ,,bug" or ,,feature"?

I have moved it to the "Document" menu, next to the "save" and save as" menu entries (where it belongs to...) :-)

Try something else : type ~/*ko* (or any pattern) in your location bar. It will show you all files containing "ko". It is another obscur feature. It work very well and it take less place than a quickfilter bar.

I thought everyone knows this shell-like feature :-)

But there are two differences:
putting e.g. ~/*png into the location bar shows *all* folders and all the png images.
Putting "png" into the quick filter bar only shows the png files.

Additionally the quickfilter toolbar works better on some ftp servers.

I'm using the quickfilter for
quite some time now.
Some warning for everybody who
is new to this:
If you select a range of files
or Ctrl+A with activated quickfilter, you also select the files not shown!!
If you now select delete you delete
more files than you thought.
This can lead to serious dataloss.
Better only view,move,copy,delete single files in filtered mode.

That's not true on my computer.

Either selecting a range or pressing CTRL-A and deleting those files only deletes the correct files.

You need to clear the quickfilter toolbar afterwards to see the remaining files.

Sorry, I don't see the advantages of your modifications (the filter search box was introduced here by mart and is of course a must). By adding the address bar to the toolbar the address bar becomes very short and you cannot see the whole URL. Also it looks so compressed (IMHO ugly) and you don't have space enough to add additional buttons.

How about instead of the address bar add the bookmark toolbar as a drop down menu to the toolbar (optionally address bar or bookmark toolbar menu or both)?

That's OK. It's not meant as one-fits-for-all.

I don't think it becomes *very* short but never the less you always see the significant last part of the url.

Contrary to the screenshot, my personal bookmark-toolbar is completely filled. And I do not want to need additional clicks to access it. :-)

But if you want, you can modify this profile (or the original profile) to fit your needs. That's the power of KDE. Thanks for your comments.

regarding the short lenght of the url box (which I don't miss, by the way), perhaps it could be implemented a function that when the mouse is placed over that space there is a pop up with the whole URL so the user can check it easily.

I really like this, but I really only have use for the incremental Amarok-style search. Is there a way I can just install that?

Your changes are just in line with what I think should be done to improve Konqueror's usability.

I hope this could be integrated to the main distribution of KDE in the next revision.

this is great. only thing missing (tough i don't use it anyway) is the google toolbar in webbrowsing.

I'd only disabled menubar and favourites toolbar, and now it's excellent!
