Well, as Richardve already said, that can be done on Linux. I haven't so far...But this very picture was created in cinema4d (on windos ;) as a test for a university-project)

Of course you can do that on Linux.. people are even creating graphics for large movies using Linux.. ;)

For us normal people without lots of money to buy Maya, go to www.blender.org, get the Blender, go to www.povray.org, get the ray tracer, and voila: a complete 3D production 'studio' for your Linux system :)

Have fun learning it ;)
