I tried a couple times to download the image, but all I get is some sort of error message: "Przykro nam, strona o podanym adresie nie istnieje."

Did you take the picture yourself? If so, what camera did you use and how did you take it (close to the flower with the camera or zoom)?
I tried something like this, but the image was unsharp and very unsaturated...

i used a cheap old 2MP Canon cammera. Try using the macro mode - this should help with the picture being out of focus. As to the saturaton problem - either shoot where there is a lot of light ot try playing with levels/channels in Gimp/Photoshop

the now obligatory question. Any chance we can get a 1280x1024 and a 1600x1200? That said, this is a beautiful wallpaper; I look forward to your future work. :-)

This is really great! Only one thing kept me from downloading it: the JPEG was overcompressed so the picture doesn't look as crisp as it could look. Please use PNG.
