This theme will display the current estimated electoral vote totals for the 2004 U.S. presidential election, as downloaded from http://www.electoral-vote.com, on your desktop. It's quite trivial, but this might save someone else the trouble of figuring out the Karamba .theme format. :-)

You can make the pic about half the size by changing the theme this way:
karamba w=72 h=36 right=true bottom=true interval=43200000
x=0 y=0
clickarea x=0 y=0 w=72 h=36 onclick="mozilla http://www.electoral-vote.com"
image x=0 y=0 path="http://www.electoral-vote.com/ev-tiny.png"

When will you guys stop whining about 2000? When Gore lost Florida (by a small margin, but he did lose), and consequently lost the electoral vote, he tried to sue for a recount of only the counties that he thought he should win. Even Ralph Nader acknowledges that to be a foolish move, even though he believes that Gore somehow still "won" the election. When the Supreme Court refused to honor Gore's request, they "apppointed" the President by refusing the interfere in an already decided election.
Of course, when that strategy didn't work they began to play the race card. All the civil rights groups came to Florida, but were unable to show evidence of a single "disenfranchised" black voter. (There was that one notice in a black housing project telling voters to come to the polls on the wrong day. Incidently, it was "discovered" by a Democratic operative). Later, disenfranchised came to mean "not registered to vote," "a felon" or "didn't know how to vote."
Gore still talks about 2000 every chance he gets. He never was really able to accept his fate. He went crazy and grew a beard. He now gives speeches before MoveOn.org that are so loony that the media won't even cover them. The greatest one was when he refered to Republican bloggers as "digital brownshirts" who are "deployed" by the Bush Administration. Talk about paranoia.
Anyway, why are you cozying up to the Electoral College? Liberals normally imply that the EC is some kind of conspiracy when they continually reiterate that "in fact, Al Gore won the popular vote." Hillary even supported abolishing the system. But conspiracy or not, it is the current Constitutional law, and whether or not you agree with it, you must live with it or ammend the Constition.
At any rate, whenever there is a book written on something, it must be true. Personally, if I read all the Bush-hating books out there, I wouldn't have time for personal hygiene (If this President is such an obvious failure, why do we need so many books to prove it?)
I wish people would not use this site to grind a politcal ax. But as long as they do, I will not hesitate to respond.
