I resolved the 'not in acceptable format' error on opening by removing the xml line from the first line of the file.

I'm not quite sure why but it seems like documents made with the Linux version for some reason does not work in Windows. I'm not sure if it only affects the new SVN builds or if the problem is older than that.

The zip worked, the icon even shows up as a scribus file, but when scribus trys to open it, it ends up saying it is "not an acceptable format"
Any ideas that will help me load it?

But I cannot check the template itself since I do not have all fonts you have used. Also the image is missing.

First save your template as template (not just save as) and then from save window, select "Include fonts" and then send that template file here.
Then everyone can have those fonts ;-)
And you can use Free/Creativecommons fonts too and others dont need to select good fonts.
Fonts are one hard thing to select when it comes to good publishing...

There is many freefonts sites what allows using fonts by anyway free, some are with CC and few are with license that ask to informa where have those fonts be used, those cannot be added. But all other free fonts could be added. It's just littlebit more work to add information about who has made them, so you are correct in that case.
