KSlide is a simple puzzle game compatible with the K Desktop Environment. The playing principle of KSlide is very simple. From a square set of tiles, one is removed, allowing at least two adjacent tiles to be shifted. This way, the puzzle is scrambled by the program, and the player's goal is to restore the original position.

I compiled kslide 1.0 on my SuSE 9.1 Pro system running KDE 3.2. The program compiles and installs from the source code without any error messages. When I try to run the program, however, nothing happens. I just get the hour glass icon on the KDE desktop, but nothing appears on the screen. If I check the running process table kslide is listed and running, but I see no signs of it on the KDE desktop screen. I have to manually kill the kslide process to get the program to shut down. Am I doing something wrong?
