I like the idea, but the progress icons need to be more in tune with the imagery

I agree. Could you try to make a progress bar (pseudo, at least) there instead of the icons? It seems to go hand-in-hand a bit with the users of Linux. At least as far as the Buddhist idea of "enlightenment" and the Linux users, being Linux users, hence "enlightened".
