Description:

My first splash screen, with a top part received "as is" from the internet, and some faces I extracted from online news.

The top shows Silvio Berlusconi being captured by italian police SWAT forces, while the animation shows top MP's of the Berlusconi coalition ending up behind bars; among them Cesare Previti, already sentenced to 11 years on grounds of corruption charges, Vittorio Sgarbi, found guilty of aggravated and continued fraud of the state and countless cases of defamation, Umberto Bossi, under investigation because he said in a public speech he would wipe his ass with the italian flag and for organisation of paramilitary SA-like groups, Marcello Dell'Utri, mafia contact of Berlusconi for years, and a few more "facce di tolla".

Enjoy!
Last changelog:

15.08.03: Bottom bar adjusted to colors of the Italian flag.

06.02.04: Changed to KDE 3.2 syntax. Now you have to unpack it in ksplash/Themes directory instead of ksplash/pics. You can anyway put the .png 's in the pics directory as before if you do not have KDE 3.2. Furthermore, there are more interesting text messages in the KDE 3.2 version.

However, I won't submit it to gentoo ;)

amerika isn't kapitalistic, they just THINK that.

In a kapitalistic system, which runs optimal (and isnt kapitalism all about optimalism?):
- something like M$ whould be impossible.
- Everyone should be able to perform at his maximum -> so everyone should have equal access to very good education -> everyone should have easy access to very good health care -> etc etc

So I think europe comes closer to 'true' kapitalism.

Exept the part where they "waste" money on non-productive ppl (elderly and handicapped).

But if you should add "humanistic" or "ethical" to kapitalism (and those words can fit in, if you want them to), kapitalism can be both optimal (performance-wise) and human.

i just wanted to say that i DO like political art on this page. and all you un-educated americans (i am NOT anti-american, just anti-iamthegreatest-americans), if you can't cope with a splash screen that contains information that you might actually have THINK about than why dont you just get your self a we-are-the-greatest-splashscreen and enjoy your illusions.
i am not a communist, neither am i racist (i am not even italian), i just want people to think critically about whats going on. i really want to emphasize that i have many american friends and that this post is not about races.
it just annoys me greatly that there are people who believe themselves to be better than others and that come to this site - a linux site (which, maybe you havent realized, is based on an anti-capitalistic system) - to deny people their right of freedom of expression because what they say doesnt suit them. kinda like in your oh-so-democratic-chosen-by-god-nation.
i hope you find comfort in the blindness and the illusions YOUR propaganda spreads.

Congratulations! Why the hell do you continue consider Italy a non-democratic and fascist country? If you believe it, why don't you make political opposition in Italy instead of this stupid artworks? I didn't vote nor for Berlusconi neither for the right coalition, but I deslike these things.

Just because Italy is a non-democratic and fascist country, since (among other things) the premier owns or controls all the Tv stations, and uses his position to cancel the crimes he's been accused of. In Italy, now, if you tamper your company's accounting, you can get caught only if you tell the police yourself! In the USA you get in jail for 20 years!

And for the sake of opposition, I was at Palavobis and later at Piazza S.Giovanni. If you don't mind I did not "waste forces", I simply took an hour off to have some fun with the Gimp and published the result.

And who would you be btw? A new D'Alema, a sore loser who wants everybody to learn from him how to win?
I register that you Berlusconi-guys have already started saying "I did not vote him", same way you did with Craxi. Whom will you vote next, Mike Bongiorno? "C'mon, Silvio was just a personal friend, I never received any favors from him... Blame the communists!"

You're very dummy. A tipical comunist that work on stupid things and blind others with his paranoia. People know that and put Berlusconi as winner in italian election. Why don't you make a splashscreen with Fassino-D'Alema while sponsor Yugoslavia dictator for war? Why don't talk about the Cernis deads changed with U.S. for Silvia Baraldini (a BR terrorist)? I wanna see if you're a democratic man..

Now:
I may be dumb, not dummy. I notice the level of your English is higher than Berlusconi's though...
Then again:
Mr. D'Alema had Yugoslavia bombed, that is a bit different than sponsoring Milosevic.
The correct spelling is Cermis.
Ms. Baraldini has nothing to do with BR.

this is what i meant... but unfortunately I spoke about politics... Sorry! Anyway, I regret for having said you waste your time: I didn't notice the link you posted; but I still believe that your provocation does not fit with the spirit of the site. I don't think that linux users are interested in having such a splash screen... maybe it's only a "location" question: in anoter site it would be appreciated.
P.S.: 1) vote is personal and secret 2) it's not necessary you give me an electoral alternative: there's no one in Italy at this moment for me.

Well, as every customisable thing it can be used for one thing and all.
I would not be surprised if some nazi had a splash screen with uncle Adolf, or some teddy-bear shop clerk a toy-themed one.
I mean, I also grew a bit bored of all those KDE-KDE-KDE logos everywhere in one and every splash screen... ;-)

A toast to Freedom.
