You can actually make this splash now using the flexible plugin for ksplash i posted a couple of days ago...

I think I'll released an updated version of the engine in a couple of days that can fade away to you wallpaper.

Can you make it available? When I try to down load it all I get is the preview.jpg. I like it alot. Nice job for your first shot.
