Description:

t was april 2002 when I first started designing a little 48x48 icon and published it at kde-look.org.
It was an alternative “trashcan" for KDE 2. Since then I’ve continued designing icons and started many themes to increase my skills and improve design quality, these were: "Desktop icons", "Sky", "Lush" and finally "Nuvola".

It tooks me more than a year to reach version 1, the more professional, consistent and complete Nuvola theme ever released, it will turn your KDE in an eyecandy colourful desktop.

If you never tryed Nuvola what are you waiting? give it a try! For the others waiting this release since a long time… download Nuvola 1.0 now!

I've scaled down them intentionally.
This beacuse they were too big, they were touching the button frame in konqueror toolbar

I tried to get permission from the creator of Crystal SVG. He said no. I will give any credit that you require. I also would be willing to pay you a fairly resonable fee. Im new to these licences, its alot to take in.

could you make use of the icon theme script builder that is available ? so instead of a 11 megs download , it would be only 2 megs :)

I'll release 1.0 as a full theme, fixes that will come later will use scripts.

I really like your icons , I'm using the beta version.
I would like to use the new ones too ,
but the thing is , I liked the "old" speaker icons better and see no reason to change the Amarok icon.

I agree , your icon should be KDE default.

rc1 has many improvement from beta. Everybody has his own taste about icons but IMO new speakers are 1000 better, for quality, contrast, and dock better (start kmix to understand what I mean).

There is no change to change amarok icon, but I've most done that cause the original icon has a wrong orientation from other nuvola icons.

I have my Konq icons at 22x22 and the forward and back icons now seem to be 16x16 sized..?

I've scaled them down a little intentionally, I was thinking they were too big. If you see 16x16 still a more little than 22x22.

I personally use 22x22 with a screen resolution of 1600x1200 and I found them fantastic.

Hey! I've downloaded the icons and I really like them. The problem is I cannot install them. I open LookNFeel --> Icons, then I click INSTALL and I select the .theme file and it says: 'Not an Icon theme file' or something. PLEASE HELP!

This is a known problem since kde 3.2 changed its icon theme configuration file.

You can install Nuvola 1.0rc1 following the instruction reported in the link below:

i hope this will be part of the themes that by default ship with kde.

One thing: the icon for the ~/Documents folder; I allway feel that every folder should have a folder icon in. I have the same problem with Crystal, i just have to look twice before i see the documents folder.

I think i know why this is done, since the 'Documents' icon is used also in different places (Save dialog, isnt it?), so maybe we need 2 icons for the Documents-folder... I dunno.

well, whats missing:
-the klipper looks unfitting
can't find anything else without searching for it so now to inconsistency:
The panel icons for K-Menu, Konqueror, KMail etc hardly fit to the browser or file icons, they look to rough and edgy imho

this is a problem, I don't know how to overwrite some docked icons. I mean:
"klipper", "kopete", "kgpg".

You may want join the mailing list about Nuvola on my site, to report bugs and opinions.

all of the docked version of those icons are based inside the apps directory one down from the size.

apps/klipper.png
apps/kopete.png
apps/kgpg.png

replace those and your golden.

I also was thinking that, but I've tryed (you can look inside the theme) putting those icons but kde 3.2.3 still loading the default ones

I'd like to recolor those icons to fit with various color schemes, is that OK for you? I'll credit you of course and all, just wanted to have your permission before touching anything :)

You know how I feel about your work . . . I left a message on your site, so there's no need to repeat it here. One thing: the up/down/back butons looked a bit better before, but that's not a big deal. Especially in light of all the new applciation icons and the new action icons. The home folder icon looks amazing, thanks to the new detail on the roof. I like the fact that the little shortcut marks on icons are now arrows instead of just dots.

Alot of nice touches here, and some cool improvements. DEFINITELY worth the download. Nothing beats Nuvola.

By the way, nuka's new Firefox Nuvola theme goes beautifully with this set.

Thanks! I've really put all my soul doing this.

About "arrows" icons, I'm very happy with them, only 16x16 maybe are not looking that good, but if you use 22x22 or higher for konqueror toolbar I think they looks perfect.

Your iconset is just great, I really love it. One thing tho: could you make a package with ./buildset script included, thus decreasing package size from 12 to like 3 megs, for us still condemned to dial-up? That would be really great, the script is somewhere on kde-look, and few iconsets already use it. Thanx
