bottom "panel":
the dock is awn, i set background to full transparency. as background instead i´m using the sidebar screenlet with docked weather and clock screenlet. so it looks like the dock has full width and i don´t need wallpaper fakes to reach this

to have different wallpapers in gnome, you must use compiz
go to gconf editor and in nautilus set show desktop to no
than, in ccsm, activate wallpapers and configure this plugin (add wallpapers...)
