#########################
# THIS IS A DEVELOPER RELEASE !!! #
#########################

KMobileTools is a nice KDE-based application that allows to synchronize and manage mobile phones with your PC. It handles full SMS control, dialing calls, phonebook, and phone status monitoring.

As KDE moved from version 3 to version 4, KMobileTools had started to be ported to Qt4 along with major API changes. A new engine has been written and the GUI redesigned. However, the former developers had to drop the project due to a lack of time and I recently decided to take it over. So, this developer release is also a CALL FOR DEVELOPERS: I won't be able to ensure the complete work, I need support and want to form a new team for development. Coding on KMobileTools is real fun, but I am very busy with my master degree and my coding experience is still not that rich, making KMobileTools evolve (too) slowly.

#################
# PROJECT CESSION !!! #
#################
The project has migrated from the KDE Playground SVN to Gitorious: http://gitorious.org/kmobiletools
I currently have no time anymore to continue hacking on KMobileTools. Feel free to clone the git repo and to submit merge requests for every contribution of yours. Git is now the best mean to share the code and to make contributions easier through the clone/merge system it provides. I remain available for project administration and any insight I could give about the project. From now on, the project is in the hands of the contributors!

Feel free to contact me if you are interested in hacking on KMobileTools. As you can see, most of the work is done, let's finally finish it! The following list is how I would set the priorities: https://gitorious.org/kmobiletools/pages/Home

Very Nice app. But very instable (runs not longer than 1-2 minutes).

And why all the pop ups of syncing and reading Phonebook. This goes all the time, hides the menue under it

Kubuntu 6.06.1 LTS

That's why we call it "beta".. otherwise i already had release final.
Anyway.. the popups windows now are "off" by default.. it was _ONLY_ a way to give the tester a visual feedback of what kmobiletools were doing in that moment (i.e.: if it's crashing you can easly identify what caused the crash).
I was already planning unverbosing them in the final version, anyway..
Also, test current svn (beta2 coming soon), i did a lot of stability fixes.
Thanks,
Marco

So Make it supported !!!!!!!!!!

That's quite easy to say..
I already made an announce searching for someone developing gammu engine.. but none answered yet.
And i don't have ANY mobile phone compatible with gammu.
I can only launch two ideas:
1) if you know anyone interested in opensource and that knows a bit of c++, point him to me.
2) Donations? i could try helping gammu engine, if i only had a nokia phone (compatible with gammu, of course..)

I think, the following will be rather useful: first, the i18n, this program semms to be very nice - and must be beautiful ;) Second, it would be godd if program could determine whether data cable is plugged into phone: currently it only saus that battery level is low...

I read somewhere a gammu engine backend was planned. Is it true ? It would be very good as gammu is the only tool able to access my mobile phone (Nokia 3100 : cheap and nice ;-))

Report

RockMan81

yes.. it's planned.. but currently the only feature of gammu engine is that it compiles :P
Finally i found someone working on it, anyway.. just look the svn version on our site for updates

The 0.4.3 compiled without that?
I'm a bit stuck, i didn't know about that dependency.. but you can simply try installing that lib

Quotation: "Qt>=3.3"
your qt is 3.2.3; 3.2.3 < 3.3 :)

I knew that already. But since it says that it can be compiled under KDE 3.2 ...

Report

Yep.. and it will, if you'll update QT.
KDE 3.2 != QT 3.2

Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!
