Lsongs
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
This is a Music Library program from Linspire. They developed it for their Linspire Linux Desktop, and then released it under the GNU/GPL. They make it hard to find the source code for this, and try to get you to pay for the program instead. I found the links and wanted to share them with everyone. This is a pretty neat program, the only drawback is that the path where it saves your music is hardcoded into the program. I modified this for myself, maybe someone could add a dialog box for this to make it configurable. There is also some problems with some of the features not yet being implemented. It will be interesting to see how this matures, and if Linspire opens the music store that is included in this program.
I run this on SuSE - 9.2. It works, however it crashes when I go to the radio stations. I am not yet sure why.
To install just type "python install.py" as root. It is that easy!
This package is dependant on some python packages that were not included with my distro:
PyXine is available from:
http://pyxine.sourceforge.net/
Pyid3lib is available from:
http://pyid3lib.sourceforge.net/

Im not a newbie but I am a moron, the RPM makes its so easy to install with YaST. I use Suse 9.1 but I just downloaded 10.0 so I will be starting fresh with that.
Thanks

No offense to the coders, to Lindows and anyone else involved in the development of the distro but, when I finally got it working, it just wasn't worth it.
I say the more apps the merrier. I love to collect GNU and KDE apps. I currently have 5.7 GBs of updated apps I've collected. There's always room for more. It's just the app in question must perform to the minimum standard, it should work.
IMHO,

No app is perfect, neither amaroK nor juK, and neither this one of course. Imho this one is right in between both. More simplistic than amaroK (for those that find it too complex or bloated), but more feature-complete than juK.

Use amaroK instead.
amaroK is actually GOOD.

Amarok got 2000 features, yes, but sometimes working and well designed features pay more than too many half-working and messed up ones.
What I really like from this app is that it's got just the features anyone would want in. No more, no less, and it actually knows dividing radio stations from your playlist clearly, instead of messing up my file list, as some other [snip] app does.

While the price may be intended to show how the software would be priced comparatively or how much it costs for Linspire users, that should be made more clear.
Otherwise, this is really good and easy to use, but somewhat underpowered software.
Thank you!
