Krename offers an easy way to rename hundreds of files in one go, giving you as much freedom as you need. You can use parts of the old filename, information like the current date or even an mp3 tag or the colour depth of an image.
Krename integrates into the Konqueror or Krusader filemanager !

i recently came across a problem. the image counter of my mobilephone is broken and i need to add a specific offset to all numbers in the file name. eg: img103, img105 => img114, img116
would it be possible to implement that?

I had an hour of freetime today and added a plugin that does exactly what you need to SVN. You can try it if you want.
The "increase counter plugin" adds an abitrary offset (positive or negative) to a number/counter found in the filename.

Dom

Seriously. I have yet to locate an app I make more use of, except for Konqueror directly. In fact, I wouldn't have considered moving to KDE4 without KRename. I found myself wishing there was an equivalent app for performing the same sort of batch naming, only for words in text files...
In short, this is by far the most useful app ever...

Will you port to KDE4? I just hope this app has a future ;-)

You can find the current version, which is ported to KDE4 in the svn repository at http://krename.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/krename/trunk/
. The basic parts work already on KDE4. Strigi integration for file plugins is the big missing part right now.

Using the Konqueror settings for preview is a good idea.
The regular expressions syntax of KRename is the Qt standard regular expressions syntax which is used all over KDE. So I do not see a reason to change this easier.

I have some requests though.
Wizard style GUI 1/3:
Remove the "Preview" and "Display name" checkboxes and use the values of Konqueror.
Wizard style GUI 3/3:
The "Find and Replace..." and the "Finish" button could be merged as a single "Rename" button.
Could you try to reuse existing standards with the build-in functions and the file type info? Please have a look at the manual of regex(7) and sed(1).

When I right-click on one or more directory(s), I'd love to have both "rename files" and "rename directories" choice.
Thanks for the great work.

they provided me with a temporary domain at http://donnie.911mb.com.
if you have trouble downloading the rpm, just replace the 110mb.com with 911mb.com
