About Magic Control
I never use Apple's Mac OS.A few days ago ,I see somebody called duotaiya wrote a con
trol centre.I held it on the same day ,carried on research. Then I have gone to website
s of Apple, see that the control centre of this control centre and that Apple is a litt
le similar, then I think of and can regard it as into an individualized control centre
integrated like Apple control centre . I visit kde-look to look for some icon at once,
icon these I like very much, then I is it set about on Magic development of control cen
tre to begin, because that the OS I used is MagicLinux, so I named this Magic control c
entre, duotaiya has offered a large amount of help in the course of developing, certain
ly other people are very important too ,such as caihua ,thank in the lump here.

they call it "Yoper Control Panel" and unfortunately they have not seen the "Magic Linux Icon" :D

Yoper use your control panel in their development version 2.9.2. Did they get permission?

running it due to icons permissions --but solved adding read to other users in that cases it was necessary-- (Please note, in my case it was necessary to convert to deb format --using alien-- as I'm a debian user)

And, finally a question. Why did you use gtk instead of Qt?

Quickly done: It's spelt 'disk' not 'dick'. Dick is something rather different, namely short for the male name Richard (I bet you all thought I was gonna say something else there, didn't you, pervs! ;) ).

It looks good, though :)

i think because i have a lot of disk , and then it will show them in the same line ,but lt's too lang,

so i let them showed in tow line

Can you please maintain single frame for each category, although it may contain more than one row. For example, in your screenshot, for Disk category you are maintaining 2 seperate frames for the 2 rows. Instead try to give frames to only seperate the categories.

You can get the tarball from the SRPM file.

I extract the tarball from srpm .

i dont care whether the source is somehwhere in the provided files. i tried quite a long time to somehow install the package with alien and other stuff and it didnt work.
but i think it i dont exspect too much if i ask for a tarball, do i!?

i already postet exactly that last week and this guy didn't answer nor did he release a tarball...

what he did was to delete my post..

what a pitty

did this guy understand what GPL means ? i don't think so

btw: it doesn't work to install it with alien on my box too... i extracted the tarball in it, the readme says "just type make"... lol.. well there is no makefile included...

If he is licensing under the GPL, he *must* provide source if it's asked for. To do otherwise (deny the source (breaks the GPL). If the source is provided as hard-copy or on a hard medium (CD,etc) he may charge for material.

But these days, it's not that hard to share source online, so there would be little reason (read: none) not to have the source uploaded somewhere.

it would really be good if you could provide some tarballs for your application. not every distribution uses rpm and srpm. thanks

Since this is really just a python script, the program _is_ the source. No need to compile.

seems to be a very interesting app!

but could you please add the sources for download?!?

not everyone uses a rpm-based distribution, in fact millions don't! so it would be nice to be able to download the sources in tar.bz2 or. tar.gz format and compile them fitting for the used distribution.

Can you add language support to this, so you dont have to hard code caption in the icons. Instead, seperate caption from icons and let kde to handle according to the language setting.

The rpm got installed but when I try to run the program into konsole here is what I get :

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/magiconf", line 12, in ?
import gtk
ImportError: No module named gtk

But I'm sure gtk is correctly installed on my system.
What's the matter ?

You don't have the GTK+ Python module installed. Google for it, it's easy to install, and should fix this. I wasn't aware this was Python, so now I'll have to grab it just to look at the code. lol
