I can't configure Apollon 1.0b1. I get the following error:

---------

configure: error: Your Installation isn't able to compile simple C++ programs.
Check config.log for details - if you're using a Linux distribution you might miss
a package named similiar to libstd++-dev.

---------

libstdc-devel is installed on my system.

this akrollon or apollon or akropollon what ever should be removed from this site, complete nonsense:
1. i can not uninstall - ask for root password that does not suite
2. downloawds break as soon as you start and then never find them again
3. if you share 21 gig on the Windows drive it will suck your hard drive for 30 mins
4. after installing firewall, it will never connect anywhere
5. GUI sucks, few config parameters
6. do not know where it connects, just tells Connecting forever
7. and so on, endless list

>1. i can not uninstall - ask for root >password that does not suite

The password problem is known. It works for the most users.

>2. downloawds break as soon as you
>start and then never find them again
what do you mean by "break"?

>3. if you share 21 gig on the Windows >drive it will suck your hard drive >for 30 mins
sharing files requires computing hash sums. This takes a while. giFT is responsible for that, not apollon.

>4. after installing firewall, it will >never connect anywhere
you gotta open some ports. if you claim to be a non-GUI-guy then you should be able to read the config files in ~/.giFT/*/*.conf

>5. GUI sucks, few config parameters
Apollon is one of the few who have such a feature rich settings dialog.

>6. do not know where it connects, >just tells Connecting forever
this is because of not up-to-date nodes-files.

Are you always frustrated like this?

Try first becoming root, and then running the installer. It shouldn't ask for the pass then (I think).

I have now tried the whole linux thing... I have read the books...
I have read the man pages...
I have read the help docs...
I have read the software docs...
Yet still
I have the feeling either no one knows what they are talking about.
Or this experiment called linux is a complete and utter disaster and failure.
Is there something I haven't been told?
Some secret of how to make it all come together?
Thanks... If it doesnt work soon I'll just have to go back to Microsoft.

Hi,

I am using Qt 3.3.2 and KDE 3.3 Beta2. Apollon 1.0-beta1 compiled just fine with this. However, when I try to run apollon; I get the following error:

apollon: relocation error: /opt/oshogg/kde3.3-beta2/lib/libkdecore.so.4: undefined symbol: qt_x_user_time

any idea, what's wrong?
thanks,

Sorry, I've no idea why it happens or how to fix it, but I would just say that I've got the exact same problem, with the same system setup as described above (though my kdedir is /opt/kde and not /opt/username/kde-3.3beta2/)

WOW :) great installer!! 2 things 1. When installing, on the left side it says "Arkollon- The Greek god ... " is it then arkollon or apollon :) and second, it's not a big deal but when the installer configures the script and there is a missing library you have to push back button and next to reconfigure. It vould be great if there is a "recheck" or smt. button next to View Log file??

I've been using apollon 9.4.1 for a wile without any problems :)
This week I upgraded my KDE to the latest version (3.1.3) with my SuSE 9.1 distro. Since then Apollon crashes each time it gets started?

Are there any problems with the latest kde version or is there just another problem.

I'm quite #$ off not being able to use this wonderfull program anymore ..
