Description:

Apollon - the greek god of music, mp3s, and videos! Apollon is a KDE-based client for the p2p-protocol giFT (OpenFT, FastTrack(Kazaa!), Gnutella, OpenNap) It is very userfriendly, intuitively, offers an inline Mediaplayer for previews of downloaded files, etc etc

it seems that your OpenGL installation is broken. Try to fix it by re-installing, install also the devel-packages just in case it helps ;)
Apollon doesn't need OpenGL, but other libs apollon uses (some kdelibs) might need openGL which causes your problem.

good luck :)

gift&plugins are already installed.
either unpack the installer or get the sources itself. configure it and add the following lines to apollon-0.9.4/config.h

/* Name of package */
#define PACKAGE "apollon"
/* Version number of package */
#define VERSION "0.9.4"

don't know why the config.h is broken. it is generated by configure.

is only OpenFT not connecting?
try to copy OpenFT nodes from http://jasta.gotlinux.org/gift/nodes to ~/.giFT/OpenFT/.

what about other plugins?

make sure the ports mentioned in the conf-files in ~/.giFT/{OpenFT, FastTrack, Gnutella} are open.

I'm a linux newbie and installed Mandrake 10.0 with KDE 3.2. Everything is working fine and most of the stuff I used to use XP for now goes as good in Linux. I'm still very uneasy on installing new software though, but I missed kazaa and other p2p stuff, and lo and behold, apollon apeared.

All the plugins installed fine after making sure the required compilers and libaries were installed, but I cannot install the apllication itself :-(. Code is below

Check the file /etc/ld.so.conf

there should be an entry in there pointing to your X libraries such as:

/usr/X11R6/lib

Make sure it points to the right place and if it's not present, add it (find wherever/X11R6/libs on your system).

Save the file and run 'ldconfig' (you'll need to be root to do these things), then try to run ./configure on apollon again.

Don't know if this will help you out but good luck and welcome to Linux.

The bug link seems to have gone.BUT.
If for some reason apollon has to reconnect to several networks and there are downloads pending on more than one network the connects don't allways work out. Also if downdloading from more than one network at the same time Apollon sometimes looses one of the network connections. This can be checked by doing a search - results will only be seen from one network. The same search following a re connect will produce results from both networks. I try to connect to all 3 but openFT never connects.
All said I like this program but the conection loss issue is a bit sad.
