Description:

A graphical FTP client for KDE with ability to concurrent connections to multiple hosts.

KBear connects to a server perfectly and lists the files - there's nothing wrong with that bit. However, the quick connect window won't disappear after the connection is made and I can't do any file transfers or file manipulation of any kind. The only way I could close it was to logout and login again.

Hi there... I was really excited about this when I saw it. However, when I gave it a try I was fairly dissatisfied. First of all, it hosed my systray... and then, when I go to try and actually connect to my ftp site, it just sits there working away, but never actually displays the folders or anything. I really hope these problems can be sorted out because like I said, I like the concept... By the way, does anybody know of a way to make my systray normal again without rebooting?

Yeah, just close all kbear related apps, remove systray and slide around the icons a bit until it returns to normal then add systray back.

As I visited the projectpage at sf.net I noticed that there is also a version 1 and even a version 2...but there cannot be the 1.0, because even this version is buggy.
The idea of kbear is great, the builtin scintilla component is usable and the sitemanager is great, but kbear crashes too often...and of course it lengthens the systray...and I often don't know if a file was successfully uploaded or not...it keeps the information...but I want to know...

I think Kbear shoud be called "Kbear 0.1 alpha" and it would be ok for me, but 1.0 or even 2.0 ? Did sou see, there is also a beta :)...
Sad, but I thought kbear would be the greatest gui-ftp-lient for KDE, but that was not the case after some tests.

@author: downgrade the version numbers and call it beta or alpha or something else. In fact it cannot be stable, because most sourcecodes of kbear don't compile on the latest slackware. I needed to pick a package from linuxpackages.net....:/

Great ftp client, unfortunately, it hoses my systray. This can't happen. Hopefully, someone picks up development of kbear otherwise, it was a waste to have even written it in the first place.

please continue developement, because I've seen the last V3 alpha and I look forward to it. I seems to become very good - ftp client - best ever. Im sad that last release is so long ago - afraid that it will not be developed further.

Is there the possibility now to ban this site-manager from systray? This was something which made my totally angry in the 2.x version. Always this icon. What is the use of it?

Despite this litte drawback, I like the program really much.

I am an intermediate user, not even a Linux Power user, but KBear's Graphical interface allowed me to FTP and syncronize our Churches website.

It is very user friendly and I will recomend it to everyone I know who needs a GUI FTP program.

I give it 5 stars.
