How'd you get HL2? I'm interested because I'd love to be able to myself.

Well, nothing fancy. Pretty much the usual way. Installed steam, bought HL2 (and Ep1, looking forward to Ep2), waited two incredibly long days for the download, during which Steam servers went hobo like... ten times or so, restarted Steam (just in case) and played the game.

The only hack I had to do was the "get past xx% steam update", but that's more than covered in the linux-gamers.net guide.
