Report from the KDE cvs front:
Hello, I thought I'd make some screenshots of latest KDE cvs from HEAD for all of you who just can't live on the bleeding edge :-)
The screenshots on the left contain a number of new programs and features that may be featured in the upcoming KDE 3.2+. Note: 3.2 is still under heavy development and I have no way of assuring that these programs, features and styles will make it in, but I think it is fair to say that a number of them will.
The first screenshot shows the new KDE PIM environment, Kontact. This should be available in 3.2 and although it is not finished it is looking very nice. The picture also contains Kopete which should become a main KDE program in 3.2. Look to the borders of the screenie and you'll see the fruits of the Slicker project in full bloom. This is not a mock-up ... it is the actual working software in cvs ;)
The second screenshot is showing off the new and improved KDevelop and Quanta development tools. Quanta is getting WYSIWYG support and this will hopefully be ready for 3.2. KDevelop has the Kopete project loaded and you can see how far this project has come.
Ok, here is the specs: The software is from the various CVS repositories of 3/23/03. The color scheme is Modern System 1 with a few slight modifications. The style is clee's excellent DotNET style and the win deco is MkUltra. I've modified Konq so the UI is more in line with the Safari interface.
I think you can see that we have many things to look forward to in the upcoming release ;)
Cheers,
Adam
Update: As Ph0nk has pointed out Slicker is not in KDE's cvs. I'm sorry if that was misleading. For what it's worth I like it, but I don't see it as a replacement for kicker, but rather an addition for some. I think it is good stuff though :-)

i would like to see a standard 3.2(cvs) compilation/installation. and about Slicker i can say, till now, the look seems not very nice, maybe just the "startmenu" is a little bit nice with it's picture on the top..
in my opinion, the usual kicker is already nice, but it needs some enhancements. i already read in cvs-digest, that pixmaps/icons now all have a transparent background. Actually the Clock applet needs some enhancements too: the Date is showing the background-pixmap of Kicker, that behavior should also be available for the Time/Clock-View. till now, it is only colorizeable :/

Second, slicker is not in 3.2 cvs and might not even get it there, so dont mislead people.
Appart from that, you're not showing anything new to people... so what's the reason for this posting? (appart from showning off your desktop)

Kopete is planned on going in to kdenetwork for KDE 3.2, if you're not running this yet, please give it a try (I work mainly on the Oscar/AIM code for Kpoete).
