Tested the simplicity of the installer using my friends kids. Ranging from 13 to 5 years old, they were given clearly written instructions on installing AL. 3 clicks for a basic install. They all installed AL, updated it and begin playing around with all the available apps. It was fun.
For a more advanced (and challenging) install, I install AL 07 into Frankenstein, my most horrible test machine. 2 IDE drive, 2 scsi, 1 sata, 1 firewire hd and a usb stick for home and the mess goes on.
No problems. AL 07 install smoothly and even reused the home dir from a yoper (another nice distro) install test on the usb stick.
Overall, AL 07 was able to see and setup more hardware than other distros I have tested, but like all other distros there are some it had problems with. Mostly pure windows dumbware, but with some effort they were made to work.
For problematic machines, live IRC support is there to help one along. From simple questions to install problems. Please keep in mind, of course, the people on the live support channel are volunteers and need to sleep everyone now and again.
The software repository needs some updating but that's in progress and should be done shortly.
Its more than worth a go, I expect that most will be very happy with it, if they do.

The best one is that the cd disk is no good. Try burning a new one.
If you burned it on Windows (Windows often produces "coasters"), try rebooting and burning from a fresh session that hasn't used up all its RAM.
Another reason is your cdrom device is failing. Try letting it cool off for 15 mins before trying to boot from it.
Last reason I can think of is both of the above. Your burner is failing thus producing bad cds or partially written cds.
If your burner app has some kinds of verification of burn function, I suggest you use it.
If you need any further assistance please come to the IRC help channel irc.freenode.org, #arklinux.
Good Luck!

This grassroots distro is showing as much sophistication as most well established distro. Ark Linux is definitely a distro to watch.
I know my company is.

If compared, one would notice, Mission Control looks more like MAC's Preferences interface than windows. Additionally, one must remember, Windows has taken the majority of all it has, from other OSes. There is little originality in it.
And then there's another thing to remember, "Don't knock it until you've tried it!", good advice.

If someone is leaving MS they are already unhappy, who not just give the best of Linux? I've given Linux to many people, and none spent that much time getting "up and running" because it looking so different. In fact they usually love the way it looks.
Trying to make a win look a like is like moving to Linux but not really, which in my view is a half baked approach. It might be that the designer likes the win look, which if that's the case then say so.
Even better would be to offer both.

Anyway, functionality, though...is very important. I haven't used this, so I can't say.

I have so many partition, put a mount point for everyone is horrible! Please remove this messages: "Mount point is dontrememberwhat many times" when you let mount point empty for some partitions.
And, i have xfs partitions, i select /dev/hda8 to be formated in xfs for / filesystem. Installer failed with "cannot mount, invalid argument"
