Description:

----------UPDATE----------
Completely (and at long last) reworked from the ground up to resolve a variety of issues including contrast, tabs, improper lighting on stepper up, and so on.

vStyler created the Windowblinds theme Prowler over a decade ago and this was ported to gtk2 by JamesHardy88 and Technoshaun who both made many contributions to the over-all effect from back in prehistory, including a gno-menu theme, etc.
This is a gtk3.22/3.24 version that incorporates many of the elements of the original. I have modified the gtk2 theme and created this gtk3 version to more closely match vStylers Prowler theme for Windowblinds in some ways, and to make certain improvements in other ways that are better suited for Linux Desktops. EXtended life for an old theme.

(Previously) created an XFWM4 theme for the XFCE4 desktop. This will work for XFCE 4.12 and 4.14. This is slightly modified for smoother lines.

To Install:
Extract ProwlerEX to your /usr/share/themes folder with Root Permissions (Or, you can extract it to ~/.theme folder). You can then select it from your Theme Appearance Settings.

Please let me know about errors or bugs so I can fix 'em.

I like this one, it is something between light and dark theme- something that is very hard to find for xfwm. But there is not enough contrast between light gray backgrounds and white fonts- I think this is something against good design practices. There also other imperfections, also contrast related stuff. Anyway, this could be really good with some changes/ fixes. Thanks.

2ww2, Let me see what I can do and come back with an update. As you said, "in between light and dark" makes contrast a bit tricky.

2ww2, I have added an Updated Version to the Downloads which is simply ProwlerEX.tar.gz. Please check it out and let me know what you think. I am writing a longer update, above.

thanks for your update. I can confirm that is more readable by now. I find that #808080 color not the most pleasant to my eye, maybe you can tweak it a little bit if that is not against your design concept. Also, on chrome-stable (deb package), all menu elements are displayed with black font and they get highlighted black on hover. Other that that, pretty cool theme. :)

Google Chrome Stable >deb Package: I cannot seem to replicate this issue. On the three dots Icon, using ProwlerEX, the menus highlight properly. Chrome does not have a Menu Bar (File, edit, etc...) but some extensions are available. I tried adding Proper Menubar Extension. It is white on gray bg and highlights properly.
I tried this on three separate machines with the same results. Without being able to replicate it, I am uncertain as to a fix. However, there comes to mind one possibility: I know that with Firefox, sometimes if the Browser is preinstalled or installed prior to the theme, it will not pick up all the elements. I installed Chrome after the theme was installed in order to run these tests. Uninstalling and re-installing resolves. Do not Fully Uninstall (rm rf) just a basic remove without purge (to keep presets and browser config) and then reinstall.
I cannot change the theme or add to the theme if it is showing as working correctly. Please update if this works or not.

Glad to know that you got it sorted out- though sad to know that is what it takes. That's my experience as well as others I have spoken with. Sometimes, presinstalled Chrome and Firefox do not want to play nicely with Client Side Decoration.
Do you change the line 51 in your gtk.css from #808080 to another color?

I tried some light gray and that looked pretty good to me. Thanks for pointing that line out, it is useful to know how to tweak themes.

Ok, #808080, yes, I did use it once in the background of Text View. It makes the Content view of the window. It is line 51 of the .css file in your /themes/ProwlerEX/gtk-3.0/ If you open that gtk.css file in your text editor and scroll down to line 51 or use ctrl+f and type in 808080 - You can change that value to any color you like. It is YOUR theme, after-all ;)
Normally, I would just make the change for you and I can if you like. But this is one value only, not a lot of changing and is one that you have complete control over so I wanted to give you the freedom of choosing the background color you like best under your own control, first.

You mean Real Chrome. ;) let me look into that. Please keep in mind, I am just now approaching my One Year anniversary of using Linux. 8 mos ago, I never even heard of css. I am still quite novice and I make these themes to teach myself. So, I make mistakes... But I am learning.
Certain issues with both FireFox and Chrome, I have not yet figured out how to change. But maybe I can find this one quickly.
I don't recall using #808080 but then, seriously, I sling so many hex colors around doing this... Go from CopperDeck to Azenis to Prowler and I find I am rattling off hex colors in my sleep. Let me check on that, as well. If you can give about two days.

take it easier, this is not a payed service. Take a break if you need, or move to a different project for a while. You will keep progressing with your knowledge , you could later use it in some web development as well. I am on similar path, trying to learn new things (css, js) but it is not always easy.

and #808080 is one of the "main" colors, the one that is used for backgrounds in file manager etc (at least according to Gpick (a cool color picker app) this is the right hex number).
