It would be nice to create (in the install.sh) a copy of kwriterc and change in it the Encoding to UTF-8. sed would do the trick.
This way editing a desktop file will be in its native encoding (instead of having the user changing it every time)...

To open the files in UTF-8 encoding, just edit serviceedit.desktop and in the two lines beggining with "Exec=", replace "kwrite %u" with "kate --encoding utf8 %u", like this: Exec=kate --encoding utf8 %u Exec=kdesu "kate --encoding utf8 %u" I also replace krite with kate as the text editor.
