Dolphin Service Menus

Description:

This is a Service Menu to compress and extract files and folders.

After a long period of not maintaining this servicemenu (Sorry, sorry, sorry!), I'm back to fix some bugs and add translations.
Because of having Ark and it's Service Menu back, I won't add new features or make a huge rework of this one.

Thanks for your appreciation.

Installation:
1. Download and extract
2. go inside the extracted folder
3. execute the install-script (install.sh) and follow the dialogs
4. enjoy:-)

NOTE: The programs p7zip, bunzip2, bzip2, gzip, rar, unrar, tar, zip, unzip and unace must be installed.

Supported languages:
German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese Simplified, Portuguese (Brazilian), Czech, Polish, Turkish, Danish, Russian and Catalan.

NOTE:
If your language isn't supported yet then just do this:
- add your language strings to the .desktop-files
- go inside the dialogs-folder
- add your language strings to the dialog-scripts
- send me a message

Hi everyone! Could anyone help me to install these menus on Gentoo 2008? Every time I run the install.sh script in console I get warnings. Even if installation was successful I get no menus. Where should I install them, local or Sustemwide? If the last, where exactly?

Love it, no clue why it isn't included by default with KDE. Anyways, is there any way to get it to work on the plasma Folder View (aka my Desktop (where I download stuff)), that would be really nice.

After read the install.sh code, and browse trhought .kde4 folder, i've found the problem why it doesn't work on kde 4.1.1 and attempt to fix it.

First it doest work because the installer work by copying *.desktop file to $HOME/.kde4//share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ directory. I don't know why, but those directory doesn't exist on my system. So the installer then simply copy those *.desktop file into a new file named ServiceMenus located at $HOME/.kde4//share/kde4/services/

I fix this problem by remove the ServiceMenus file and then create a directory named ServiceMenus at those locaton. After that i run the installer and it's work well.

I think you can fix this bug by add some command to create ServiceMenus directory in the installer in case the directory doesn't exist

I tried this and the above symlink creation, and tried to install locally and as root. Did not help. Still giving error of cannot find *.sh, but it does show up in the menu.

Check your $HOME/bin, a success local installation should copy a bunch of *.sh file there. If not, try reinstall it

rm -rf $HOME/.kde4//share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus

mkdir $HOME/.kde4//share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus

then run sh install.sh

Using Intrepid Kubuntu with KDE 4.1.1 (it uses the .kde as home folder now)

Script completes successfully and installs in the folders correctly. Restart and it cannot find the ~/bin/*.sh for any of the extract and compress menus commands (they are there though). It is installed as local. Attempting to install system wide reports that kdesu cannot be found (I have the kdesudo package installed though).

Also, not sure if this is a feature or bug, but the Compress menu will only show with folders and Extract menu will only show with archives.

Let me know if I can give you anymore information.

I had to add kdesu to the $path manually myself to fix it.

cd /usr/bin
ln -s /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu

I think it would be nice to not show all Compress-Types in the Compress-Menu but the 3 most-"importand" like zip, tar.gz and rar or so and the 4th menu-entry is "other" and then a dialog pops up to enter or select the ending you like.
