Active Window Control

Description:

Plasmoid which just show active window title and icon. Also allows to close active window with cross icon (its location can be configured) and some other actions (like present-windows effect etc).

This plasmoid is particularly useful when using BorderlessMaximizedWindows=true setting (in ~/.config/kwinrc under [Windows] section). This option can now be turned on/off directly from widget settings.

REQUIRED DEPENDENCIES
- qt5-graphicaleffects
- e.g. package for kubuntu users: libqt5qml-graphicaleffects

HOW TO INSTALL
- Add Widgets... -> Get new widgets -> Download new plasma widgets
- find this applet and install through the first item with .plasmoid extension

I love this widget. How works the option of Global Menu? Is only for the button or is related with the Global Menu widget?

This version no longer functions properly (1.6.0) (the window name is no longer appearing and i suspect the widget is to blame for some crashes) , though the github version does ( https://github.com/kotelnik/plasma-applet-active-window-control ). What i did for a quick replacement was removing the widget from the panel, downloaded the github version, went to ~/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/(active window controls folder) and replaced the existing contents with the respective newly downloaded content. Finally i put back the widget in the panel and it works fine.

I love think widget! :-) 99% perfect! Can I make a feature request, please? Might it be possible to add a setting so you can re-order the buttons? I'd rather have them in this order: Close - Minimize - Maximize/Restore.

Different users may order the buttons differently, so it could become confusing if the widget buttons do not match.

Arch and Manjaro users can also install it from AUR.

I can confirm, that the new version from github works on KDE 5.8.3 (KDE Neon). I just replaced it with the existing one via copy and paste.

Looks like the org.kde.taskmanager tasksModel commands the widget use are not supported anymore. If someone knows what commands KDE 5.8 use instead of them fixing widget would not be hard.

it kind of works in terms of the widget settings controlling stuff like border removal on maximized but the main purpose of the widget is pretty much entirely broken. The only thing it ever says is "Plasma Desktop" so it doesn't seem to recognize any applications.

Thank you so much for this widget! I really like it, its very functional and you can save space in you monitor!
As other people have suggested, it would be a great idea to have the menubar implemented, and the "drag" for unmaximize support. Thank you so much, I hope you continue your work on this project.

Nice widget. Please add an option to close the window on middle click. I need this so the the behaviour of borderless maximised windows is consistent with the behaviour of non-maximised windows on my setup.
Another issue — is there any way I can make the close and maximise buttons appear immediately to the right of the window title (ie. without any gap between the text and the buttons)?

ad middle-click) Good point, should be easy, next release :)

ad button-text) The issue is the blank spot between buttons and text where the icon was before it was hidden, right? I believe you can minimize "Button spacing" and adjust "Icon and text spacing" to position the text. But maybe I understand your use-case wrong...

I like only using the buttons (no icon, no program's name, etc), problem is that the widget doesn't adjust its height, so i have unpleasant blank space above and below the buttons.

Vala-panel appmenu, fcitx-Appmenu and mate appmenu are able to show some sort of menu bar while no program is active and only "Desktop" is shown. Is it possible to implement that feature into this widget or to design something similar?

A setting for making the title-bar of maximized windows disappear, and allows you to put the close/maximize-buttons in an auto-hiding panel instead. Preferably in the corner where you are used to have the buttons. Allows a lot of customization! The bad: I don't get the "App menu" to appear. It may be me missing something.

10 the best! I wanted a mac like global menu with all dates and system tray in top panel. This plasma widget's the most detailed and featureful even though some of its features are not being developed. The feature I like the most is it automatically disables titlebars only for maximized windows which saves precious real estate. The app menu was not working so i used global menu widget besides it. I wanted to use this widget primarily for closing, minimizing my windows and that feature is still working. Please keep this widget up-to-date

-It crashes my entire Plasma Desktop depending on the configuration (for example when filling the hidden text on hover). I prefer Plasma Active Application (https://store.kde.org/p/1269296) that is faster, smoother and adapts itself in combination with Global Menu.
