Hi,

I've got a *.deb for x86 Kubuntu-Hardy Users..

Cheers, Onlinelli

PS: Maybe your Applet should be under "Plasmoids"...

Where can I get this for kde 3.5?
And why isn't this under plasmoids?

So I uploaded a new version with some basic show/hide functionality. In the configuration dialog you can define the number of icons to make visible (and the rest will show up when hitting the green arrow). There is still some issues with icons changing place when using multiple rows (as an impact of the chosen layout model). But because you guys are so good at feedback I release it anyway :)

buschmann23> Thank you for the packages for openSUSE, if someone can make packages for other dists as well, I be happy to add them!

Concerning the quicklaunch in playground I have joined the team that is working on that applet, and the most of my code have been implemented there as well (in fact, this release is basically copynpaste from that code). However I will try to keep maintaining this applet, partly because of the feedback I get here, and partly by the fact that with the applet in playground we aiming at KDE 4.1, which implies some code dependent on the trunk-version of KDE.

Thanks for adding the quick launcher. I was looking forward to trying it, but, the installation won't work. Everything works fine until the end, it says "error: kworkspace/kworkspace.h: No such file or directory" Any ideas?

Hi buckeyered
I would guess you haven't the header-files for KDE4 installed. Most probably you need to install some dev-packets to make it work. Look for something like kde4-workspace-dev.

OK thanks swenstorp. I did install the kde4-workspace-devel, which was actually kdebase-workspace-devel in synaptic. That got rid of that error. I have a new one now. Here it is: "CMake Error: ERROR: Could not find KDE4 kde4-config". I searched for kde4-config in synaptic, and it's not there. Any idea what else I'm missing?

I have build this for openSUSE 10.2 and newer, my packages can be found here:

i get the error: "CMake Error: ERROR: Could not find KDE4 kde4-config" when i execute install.sh.
Im using kubuntu 8.04 beta. Any ideas?

ok i got cmake to see my kde4-config in "/usr/lib/kde4/bin" by editing "/usr/share/cmake-2.4/Modules/FindKDE4.cmake" but the problems didnt end there. the applet installed fine but it installed in the wrong directories so i copied "/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_quicklauncher.so" to "/usr/lib/kde4/lib/kde4" and i copied "/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-quicklauncher.desktop" to "/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/services" and it seems to be working at the moment but there is no button press animation.
is that normal?
(this is under kubuntu 8.04 btw)

I'm having the same issue that you did. I edited the cmake file but now I get "CMake Error: Could not find REQUIRED package Plasma
-- Configuring done"

Any idea's on this one?

So You got yourself a minor release :)
I removed the double-click thingie, as you all seemed to agree that single-click was correct in every case.

I was looking in playground today and found another quicklaunch which seemed to do almost the same thing, I have mailed the responsible guy and hopefully we can merge our codebases.

Great news, so you probably will be able to make your code into KDE 4.1.
As the professor in Futurama says: "Good news everyone!!" :)

I was looking for this, mostly because desktop icons does not work with double click.
But I think items in taskbar should always use single-click. Double click in taskbar is just... odd!

Have you got this in KDE's playground svn yet? And if not, whyyy? Go go go, it's a very requested feature, after all, your contribution would be welcome i'm sure ;)

now it needs double click to launch tasks

maybe this behavior is related to my mouse settings (i use double click to open tasks)

can you fix it?
thanks in advance.

Actual that was a feature I added, just as you suspected I look at the mouse-settings. I will look at it, and if nothing else I fix a special version :)

This is not a bug - it is a design issue.

Having a one click polica in Qucklauncher while still having the doubleclick policy in the other parts of Plasma would be inconsistent.

But I agree that the double click is annoying. I believe that at least the items on Plasma panels should be regarded as "buttons" and not as "links". A link requires a double click, though a buttons does not..

Hum, where have you placed the applet? In the panel or on the desktop. I remember i had some issues on the desktop, but I can't reconstruct it...

Try the new 0.2 version and check if it helps.

Does this support dragndrop? (Dragging an application icon into the Quick launch bar and from it)

Does it support "hidden" application icons (like on Windows?)

The old Quicklaunch applet of KDE2-3.5 always felt "clumsy", so I never used it actually....

Hi lucher

No drag'n drop functionality yet, but should be there in next release. I probably have to make it a containment instead of an applet...

I'm not sure what you meen by the hidden application thingie (probably because I'm not that familiar with windows). Can you explain?
