Update is in the works. They have changed the file in which the timestamp of the last sync is saved. - Feb 15 2007

hmm, probably you should delete the existing ViewPortageX directorys and the ViewPortageX config files in the ~/.superkaramba directory.
I don't know what keeps the package details away from you, but for me it works and I didn't change something that would explain why it shouldn't work anymore.

Theme in ViewPortageX are programmed by extending and overwriting the default theme.
You would find some quite well documented codelines in the liquid.py for example, that would allow you to change the text color in the liquid theme.
Despite of the comments in the code (which I greatly improved in the last versions) I don't have a documentation of how to theme ViewPortageX. - Apr 21 2006

The red and green colours show you, what packages have been changed/added to the portage-tree before or after your last sync.
Everything that is coloured red has come into portage after your last sync, so you have to sync if you want to install them.
What is green is already in your local portage tree.
This coloring may be a little wrong because of the timezone problems, but it shouldn't be more than a few hours.

I would have to rewrite much stuff for making popups open to somewhere else than to the right.
And the gain is not big, so I probably will never do that. - Mar 12 2006

I simply still not get the timezones right.
Main problem is that I cannot find out which timezone is used in ViewPortageX or packages.gentoo.org.
I will investigate that again. - Mar 09 2006

That is a known bug and it must come from superkaramba.
I once envestigated it and found out, that some of my functions are simply not called again.
The result ist the missing pagebutton-line.
Only way to get it back is to restart superkaramba completly. - Mar 04 2006

The only dependency of ViewPortageX is kdialog, it does not need PyQt neither PyKDE.
You can always run superkaramba from console and look for a more detailed error message. - Feb 25 2006

I don't know to what exactly you are referring to.
Clicking on the package-name should bring up a small window with more informations about the packages. (give it some seconds, it needs to download and parse a webpage)
Clicking on the packages category should bring up all packages of the category. - Feb 19 2006

I love lipstik and am always trying to get it into Portage.
But I may have found a bug in lipstik-2.2

See for you self:

Its this white bar, it turns on when you move the mouse over it.
I don't know, maybe it is a bug in kde-3.5.1, but I fear its your "fault" :) - Feb 11 2006

Well, you can work with the zip-libarys of python.
You can unpack the skz-file, update it and pack it again.

You should really implement an Auto-Update function.
I made one for my theme ViewPortageX and it was not much work and works quiet stable.
I only needed a simple one, but you can implement only to download the changed part of your theme from the server and that way you can save bandwidth. - Jan 30 2006

Well, I tested minikaramba just together with ViewPortageX and there where no lockups with all minikaramba-themes open.

Btw. I looked in the superkaramba theme.

Karamba & Superkaramba by Jinidog 74 comments

I cannot reproduce your problem.
There is no big difference between 1.21 and 1.22, just some code related to the graphic widget-system has been changed.

There must be something wrong with your installation.
The only thing I can imagine is that you have no route to the update server.
Try to ping http://www.codepfusch.de .
Anyway, if the update-server is not reachabe, ViewPortageX should continue doing its work and skips auto-update.

Do me a favour and save your current ViewPortageX directory as the file ~\.superkaramba\ViewPortageX.rc .
I could need that to investigate your problem.

For helping you.
Download a new ViewPortageX-1.22 package, unpack it and open it with superkaramba.
If it is still not working, delete your current ~\.superkaramba\ViewPortageX.rc .
If even that is not working..., well than it cannot be my fault. Have to investigate the saved files. - Jan 17 2006

well, before you can install a new package, you will have to sync.
If I add such features, I would have to develop somekind of a portage-GUI.
I think it's really better, if you do all the stuff by hand. - Jan 15 2006

the false transparency to the wallpaper is looking very bad as borders for small windows.
I would want either true transparency or a normal black border, without transparency.
(setting the border width to 0 does look bad too) - Jan 07 2006

The structure of the script allows it to implement variable fontsizes.
However, as the width of the theme is fixed, that would cause much more names to be cutted of.
If you think, that is worth it, I can think of implementing something like it in a future release. - Jan 02 2006

Karamba & Superkaramba by Jinidog 74 comments

Ah, perhaps you meant the width of the theme.
No, I cannot do much about that.
Dynamic width would be hard to code and the background images would not match anymore. - Jan 01 2006

I have planned more themes and ViewPortage X can be redesigned in a manner, that you wouldn't know that it is the same theme.
But as creating a new theme means to copy and modify the default theme-script, I will wait with doing this until I'm sure, that there will be no changes needed in the theme-script to keep them compatible with the main script.
I don't want to do the same changes in every theme.

You can change the images in the images/ directory, if you realy want to change something.
Renaming the backgroundimage should have a nice effect. - Dec 08 2005

I cannot reproduce that. The message "Fetching data..." is still shown even when the "Display installed packages only" option is checked.

I think the refresh time is good at it is.
What would the user do, when he could configure it?
Set it down to one minute and put high load on the server?
If you really want to change the refresh time, edit the .theme file.

Btw: Why are people voting this theme down everytime when it reaches one of the first places in the karamba ratings?
Apparlently they do it without downloading the theme.

Please, before you vote this down, give me a reason why you do it. - Dec 02 2005

can't make a clue out of this, Default is defined in default.py, which is imported in the line before that.

I must agree with the comment above.
The icons are great, just the folders are bad chosen.
Normal files and folders have the same color, that's not good.
