hi dear,

I found your Wallpaper here today. Looks lovely on the first view. But to be honest: it is by far too dark (that means: you can hardly see anything on the picture). So: Could you put in a bit more light, so that one can see something on the picture?
You don't nee much. Only a little bit is enough.

Flash Plugin Patcher

Various Gnome Stuff by NikolaiRach1 9 comments

hi dear,

nice, that you want to engage in these flashplayer-problems. But: for all 64bit-users, there is already another solution with a 64bit-ppa-repository. Look here:

https://launchpad.net/~sevenmachines/+archive/flash

This solved the problem for me. For this, you need to uninstall all previous versions before. That means: if you have flashplugin-installer and flashplugin-nonfree installed via Synaptic, uninstall these packages before. Then restart your system. Then if you have Gnome3 installed, go to Activities and there to "others" and software-sources. There copy&paste the line shown on this link into the window and save these changes. Then refresh your software-sources. Then go back to Synaptic in Activities and install the package flashplugin64-installer.
That's it. Then these problems are solved!! I hope, that this ppa-repository will be available for future releases of Ubuntu and ubuntu-based distros. - Jun 28 2011

What about a complete Star-Trek-Desktop as it was in Jaunty- and Karmic-Times?? There was something good existing.
But with the upcoming of Gnome3, this didn't work anymore. But perhaps this ancient thing could be rewritten to Gnome3??

I could spend some cool Star-Trek-Wallpapers for this idea, which I have here on stock on my machine. What do you think about it?

GTK3 Themes by daniel4umint 17 comments

Then follows step 7 before you reboot your machine!!!

7: install these packages:

language-pack-de, language-pack-de-base, language-support-de, language-pack-gnome-de, language-pack-gnome-de-base

If you have kde-rpgramms running in Gnome, then additionally install these packages:

language-pack-kde-de, language-pack-kde-base

8. Then - if you have an nvidia-graphiccard, you need to install these packages as long as there is no working propriatory nvidia-driver for Ubuntu 11.04 and LinuxMint 11:

libdrm-nouveau1a, nouveau-firmware, xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, xserver-xorg-video-nouveau-dbg

Then close Synaptic and go back to your Terminal. Type in this to activate your driver: sudo apt-get install libgl-mesa-dri-experimental

9. Now we have to enable the new Gnome3-desktop. Therefore, we need to change the window-manager to mutter. For this purpose, we again need the terminal. Open it again and type in this:

sudo update-alternatives --config x-window-manager

Then a list appeares and at the bottom you are asked to type in a number. There type in the number 2

Then type into your Terminal this:

sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-shell.desktop /etc/xdg/autostart

Now close your Terminal and now it is time, to reboot your machine!! - Jun 09 2011
MintLiner gtk3 theme

GTK3 Themes by daniel4umint 17 comments

sorry dear,

for having to correct you a little bit. LinuxMint 11 uses Gnome 2.32 by default. But it is possible to install Gnome3 clean without any trouble in LinuxMint 11 in the meantime via ppa-repo.

Just go these steps:

1. go to your Terminal and type in this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/tes-
ting

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat (this x-upgrade is necessary to run Gnome3)

2. Then do not reboot your machine, but go to your Terminal again and type in this:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

to upgrade your system completely.

3. Then do !not! you reboot your machine, because then at this step, you will discover big problems, as the installation of Gnome3 is not complete. So instead of rebooting your machine, go to your Synaptic and

4. install these packages:

gnome-shell, gnome-session, gnome-session-bin, gnome-session-common, gnome-session-fallback, gnome-shell-extensions-alternate-tab, gnome-shell-extensions-alternative-status-menu, gnome-shell-extensions-auto-move-windows, gnome-shell-extensions-common,
gnome-shell-extensions-dock, gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme, gnome-shell-extensions-window-navigator, gnome-shell-extensions-xrandr-indicator,
gnome-games.

5. Then uninstall the package gnome-games-extra-data because of a collisionof one file in this package with a file inside the package gnome-games-common

6. Then install gnome-games-common, mutter, mutter-common, libmutter0, accountservice, autoconf, gnome-tweak-tool, gnome-themes-standard, xserver-xephyr.

hi dear,

I have now tested the merging-function of your script. But I am sorry to have to give you a bad news.

The merging-function does not work for me.
I had tried it with several files. The merging seems to want to start, but then process-bar runs backwards and it does not create the merged file. I cannot give any further details, because I do not get any error-message from this application, so I can't exactly state, why this happens. I will test it now with devede to see, if the same thing happens there too. - May 01 2011

Nautilus Scripts by marc41 380 comments

yes, you're right, that it works on all Linux-distributions. And because of being distribution-independent, I think your script will one day become a so called "must-have" as it is with Ubuntu-Tweak.

So I appreciate it, that you will take up my idea of a ppa-repository. For this, you can look on http://launchpad.net. They will tell you, how to open up a ppa-repository there.

Then I also think, that this will not only make installation and updating your script much easier for all users but also it woll eas up work for you I suppose. So it would be good, if you took up this idea of a ppa-repository for all distributions.

There are so many good ppa-repoistories on launchpad already and launchpad evolves into a big knot-point for such things.

I love launchpad and enjoy using ppa-repoistories from there.

Keep this nice shot up!! You seem to be a real Greece-Fan or?? Mee too. I love this country and I have also been to the Pellepones once already. But the islands are somewhat nicer. I love these islands and one day, I will go there again for holiday. Greece isn't that overrun by tourists than the Baleares for example. I don't like Malloraca that much....
Hotels have turned into real party-clubs, people drunk and once it happened for me, that one such guy vomited directly infront of my feet, while I was on the beach one afternoon. Grrrr....I hate that..

In Greece, this seems not to happen and greece has stricter rules in this point. That's good like that. But Greece faces other problems at the time. That's true. I have read about that in the internet and in the nuewpapers. But they won't have another option than doeing strong savings to get there economical problems solved. They need us tourists now. - Apr 16 2011

Metacity Themes by LuxieRayku 10 comments

hi together,

I also found out, that Gnome-Shell isn't able to work together with Emerald-theme-manager. The simple reason is the mutter-window-manager. Gnome-Shell depends on mutter-window-manager. But Emerald-decorator depends on compiz-window-manager. And there, we have the cat biting its own tail. The thing is, that compiz does not work with mutter-window-manager and mutter-window-manager does not support compiz the other way round.

So it would be good, if anybody would claim that to the developers. And the next bad thing is, that the next version of ubuntu will come with Unity as desktop-environment. So this would be the chance, to switch over to LinuxMint. LinuxMint 11 also has Gnome3 as its standard Desktop. But there, the users are not forced to use Unity or even Gnome-Shell. There we as users have the possibility of choice!! There you are not forced to anything!! So: switch over and forget Ubuntu. LinuxMint is based on ubuntu and uses the same repositories. And one more good thing: LinuxMint is an official ubuntu-derivate comeing from Ireland!!

So you also support EU-economy!! That's why I switched over nearly two years ago! - Apr 10 2011

hi prometheusco,

I just saw your Wallpaper here. It looks nice. But to be honest: it should have a better name than ubuntu-burst.

My suggestion would be Ubuntu-Disco. Why? Because your Wallpaper makes me remember my younger years when I went out to the discos at the weekends and this ball in the middle of your Wallpaper makes me think on this reflecting ball above the dancers in the discos, which produces these nice colors of the lights.
