No, don't unzip it, it doesn't work 100% like that. Just run dbKalendar.skz from SuperKaramba. - Jun 10 2007

I don't know what the problem is. You are not running it unzipped, right? That's not supported anymore, really. And 0.6 must be run with SuperKaramba 0.36 (very old) for it to work. - Jun 09 2007

I don't know, really. I could have a look if the original author or one of the other editors have created a feature in the iCalReader class. Perhaps it's already possible. - Jun 09 2007

Right... er, okay, going through the code I noticed I can use scroll wheel to choose a different trailer. :) BUT... the browse buttons would be nice (and perhaps see a smaller version of the picture).

One bug then: the first trailer after (re)loading the theme is always "28 weeks later" for me. Perhaps it's the first one or the last one in the xml file. - Apr 28 2007

I wanted to do this one myself a while back, but never really got to do it. Few things I'd like to see:

- browse through the images (next, previous buttons?)
- the correct trailer with the picture (it now always plays "28 weeks later") :) - Apr 28 2007

When using the same color for the active and inactive title bar, the inactive one still is a tiny bit lighter than the active one.

Also, the buttons are a bit 'bland' (too 'vague'), at least when using a light scheme. - Mar 27 2007

I love it! I recently started using Tango, but this one I like way more. It has a more modern feel to it.

A small note: the options are saved, but you don't see all of them when you re-open the configure dialog (for the window decoration). - Mar 26 2007
I agree with MaxQ. Besides, it can't be GPL, since you're using the Vista logo. - Mar 15 2007

Even when using "make -f admin/Makefile.common && make clean" like suggested, no dice. That command gives:

Yes, it makes sense you don't have problems with 0.6, because it doesn't have the features later versions have. Especially the iCal feature. That is probably the cause of the CPU usage. - Sep 25 2006

1) Create a directory somewhere (for example: /data/dbkalendar_skins )
2) Put you theme _directory_ in there. The structure should be something like this:

/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/__init__.py
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bg.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bgbottom.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bgdayclicked.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bgdetail.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bgtoday.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/bgtop.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/browseleft.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/browsemiddle.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/browseright.png
/data/dbkalendar_skins/myskin/divider.png

3) Select "Enter/Change custom skins path" from the dbKalendar menu, and set the path to /data/dbkalendar_skins
4) Now you can select "myskin" from the dbKalendar menu.

It works, believe me, I'm using it myself. :)

You're welcome to send your skin to me if there's still a problem and you want me to take a look.

0.9.2 should work, I have no problems and I've only heard of a few slight possible bugs. - Aug 29 2006

Hmmm, everything went fine at home (KDE 3.5.2 on AMD64), but it didn't go too well here at work (also KDE 3.5.2). The Style is working, but the Windec is broken. When I select it in the Control center, kcontrol crashes:

QPainter::setPen: Will be reset by begin()
KCrash: Application 'kcontrol' crashing...
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.

Very weird. I'm using GCC 3.4.5 here (3.4.6 at home). - Aug 18 2006

Hi, great windec and style. I'm trying them out for a while.

Anyway, there's a small bug when you have maximized windows and rounded corners. The corners are a bit broken. You can see the rounded corners as well as the non-rounded once. Try it out. You can see it especially well when you only have a window maximized vertically. - Aug 17 2006

You can read http://www.parena.net/dbKalendar/faq.php#createtranslations ("how do I create translations") on the dbKalendar site. But for a quick step-by-step:

1. Install poedit
2. create a directory dbKalendar somewhere
3. put dbKalendar.skz in that directory
4. go to that directory and do "unzip dbKalendar.skz"
5. start poedit
6. go to File -> New catalog from POT file
7. select the dbKalendar/dbKalendar.pot
8. fill in the requested information (project dbKalendar, language, country, etc.) and save somewhere as dbKalendar.po
9. Now you can start translating! The part at the top is what is in the file, and in the bottom part you can put the translation. When you're finished, send the translation to me and I'll release it asap! :) Good luck! - Jul 09 2006

I'm giving it a go right now. About the file: you shouldn't call it .tar.gz if it's only a tar. Rename it to kdx.tar

If you want to call it tar.gz, you need to gzip it as well:

It might be a bit difficult. Try downloading 0.8.1 of dbKalendar. I have a small hack in there that enables a good rendering of the Turkish language. It sets a different encoding. You could try that for your language. I think yours could be iso-8859-2. - Jun 22 2006

If you use superkaramba 0.36, you can only use the old dbKalendar 0.6 which is still available for download on this page. You cannot use dbKalendar 0.7 or higher with SuperKaramba 0.36, you need at least SuperKaramba 0.37 for that. See this url for instructions on how to use dbKalenar 0.6 with SuperKaramba 0.36: http://www.parena.net/dbKalendar/faq.php#superkaramba036
