This is very good. Definately worth for someone making a nice gui for this. Can't see why the KDE developers hadn't set any other default parameters, 'coz the current default are... well... ugly :P

Karamba & Superkaramba by baraquda 40 comments

I really like the looks of this, suits very well with the Liquid Weather. However, it's not working for me, it doesn't display any text. I tried changing the font, but that didn't help. So I'm stuck with an empty little theme :/ - Feb 02 2004

Here I am again, still with segfaults, even with 0.2. Gaim works, though. And so do Mozilla Firebird and Thunderbird, Evolution (sort of), gftp. But xchat, switch2, gimp-1.3 all segfault. - Jan 05 2004

Here's some info on my crash:

KDE 3.1.4
QT 3.2.2
GTK 2.2.4

GTK does have a menu shadow patch, perhaps that's causing problems. Here's a list of apps I try to start after choosing it (when using switch2, it segfaults):

parena@thor > gimp-1.3

After fiddling with it, I got it installed correctly, but it doesn't work on my Gentoo system. When I select the Qt theme, it won't start any gtk2 app anymore. Like switch2, which segfaults. :/ - Jan 01 2004

Liquid Weather ++

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

I'm liking Liquid Weather a lot. It's the only *Karamba theme I use for now, since it's the most polished one, with easy configuring.

Will there be options to change the fonts through a dialogue in a future version? And how about the ability to have multiple Liquid Weather themes on your desktop. You see, my wife comes from Finland, but we live in The Netherlands, so I'd like to see the weather for different cities.

Anyway, superb stuff! - Nov 30 2003

I sent you a hack, though. It puts the sticky button on the right side (next to the minimize button) and makes it look the same way as the other buttons. Maybe you can use that. Anyway, read my email. :) - Dec 03 2002

Kicker Panel by fop 84 comments

What Oliv means is that you have to be able to 'throw' your mouse to the bottom left corner of your screen and can click without looking. With your design, the menu itself is not at the very bottom left corner, but slightly higher. This makes clicking it harder... - Nov 22 2002

Kicker Panel by fop 84 comments

Well this is sure 'fresh'. Very innovative! :)

But I'm either getting it wrong, or there's a 'problem'. When you have minimized an app, you'll have to click the taskbar and THEN click the app to get back to that app? I like to see what apps I have running, instead of having to go to the taskbar and let int 'unfold'. I wanna know if I have that xterm running yes or no...

Very cool idea, though... - Nov 22 2002

Those new screenshots look so futuristic, I love that idea. Let's hope it'll be not TOO futuristic for the KDE devs and they'll implement something like this. Or anyone else for that matter. Kicker is a seperate application. You can just run another one instead. Though, all applets would probably have to be redesigned. Anyway... good stuff. :) - Nov 02 2002

Naturally, I'm all for a new Kicker/panel/whateveritscalled.

I know that hiding applet handles is coming in 3.1(?), but you can now do it by manually editing your kickerrc. I've done it myself and it definately looks so much better.
