Murrine GTK+ Cairo Engine

GTK2 Themes by cimi86 370 comments

I'm not sure I understand this release.

I am currently using Murrine SVN revision 145. Is this release newer than that? Does this release include all of the improvements that were in the SVN versions like progressbarstyle and such?

Also, if it is, are we going to see some updated documentation about the new engine options? - Mar 16 2009
Vista for humans

It's weird, but I actually like it without the reflection effect. I love Aero, but the one thing about the authentic Vista Aero that I hate is that reflection effect. I wish there was a way to diable it in Vista. All I want is the nice smoked glass effect, like your theme has. :) - Feb 27 2009

You must be so proud of being a shitbag, aren't you?

I don't see you coming up with anything creative.

And to the OP, how did you get it so that you could see the window under the panel? I can't figure out how to do that. - Feb 26 2009

The font I'm using is Gill Sans MT. It's proprietary.

Yeah, it seems that after correcting one color problem, another one arose! I've already noticed that the drop down menu to select views in Nautilus is screwed up. I'll be trying to fix it for the next release. - Feb 24 2009

Those fonts are meant to be used with the Conky configuration I included. The Dot Matrix font is used in the clock conky and the weather font is used in the weather conky.

You just place them in ~/.fonts like any other font. - Feb 24 2009

It's like Vista, but not enough to be a clone! It might look a little better, though, if the buttons were closer to the right edge of the window.

I only bumped it once.

Besides, if I hadn't bumped it, the person who made the Macchiato Metacity would have never seen it and wouldn't have made the Macchiato Metacity. - Feb 15 2009

As I said regarding Metacity, if someone is interested in making a xfwm4 port of my Emerald theme, I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't know how to make Metacity themes and I don't know how to make xfwm4 themes.

GTK and Emerald are all I know right now. - Feb 15 2009

You want to specifically change the following line:

to

I have been using this Conky for a very, very long time, so I don't really remember how to change the units, but I think that if you change "true" to "false" in the following line, it will default to metric units for you:

self.parser.add_option("-i","--imperial",dest="imperial", default=True, action="store_true", help=u"request imperial units, if omitted output is in metric. Not applicable at command line when using templates.") - Feb 14 2009

Sir or Ma'am,

My name is Jesse Kay. I am the creator of the Macchiato theme. I have compared both my theme and your theme, and they are almost identical, even down to the organization of the gtkrc file.

The only major differences I can see are in the scrollbar, the progressbar, and contrast tweaks throughout the theme. Besides that, everything, including the color scheme itself matches my theme.

I don't mind people making modifications of my themes and uploading them, as people have done before, but I don't appreciate when you claim that you have never even seen my theme when your theme is almost 95% identical to it. - Feb 13 2009

That's because applications run by root don't take on the GTK theme of the non-root user, because they are technically different users.

Try opening a terminal and entering these three lines:

sudo ln -s ~/.themes /root/.themes
sudo ln -s ~/.icons /root/.icons
sudo ln -s ~/.fonts /root/.fonts

This should copy your themes, icons, and fonts to root so that you can use the same GTK theme for root as you do for your normal user. - Jan 05 2009

Oh, God. I'm retarded.

I installed the Murrine engine from SVN when I was still using Hardy, but then installed it from the Universe repos after moving to Intrepid.

The reason why it isn't showing up for you is that with the newest version from the SVN, the "style" property is obsolete, replaced by "profile"

What I should have said was make sure you have the Intrepid version of gtk2-engines-murrine installed.

If it's possible, uninstall the SVN version and install gtk2-engines-murrine from the Universe repos.

If you are not able to do that, go into the gtkrc file and change

style = MURRINE # engine style options: CANDIDO, MURRINE, MIST, MURRINE, NODOKA

to

profile = MURRINE # engine style options: CANDIDO, MURRINE, MIST, MURRINE, NODOKA.

It should work after that change. - Dec 19 2008
