can't you attach these sizes here?

and btw, the icon blinking, until the last 2, is very hard to see... maybe you can fix that?

and maybe make a nuvola version?

its cool this way, absolutely, but I'd just love to see nuvola :D - Apr 17 2005
hey, maybe you can integrate some of these features by in konqueror itself? eg not as a seperate toolbar, so it can be put into the main toolbar if someone wants to? and get it into KDE 3.5 :D - Apr 17 2005

hey, you are right. I understand its hard to leave all this work behind. bug maybe you can use it, and at least - it was fun, and a learning experience. you won't lose that... Listen, if it wasnt the fact I've heard quite a few windows people look at amarok and say "hey, what a damn cool app is this, can I have it on windows" I would not bother you. but this seems to be an app people like so much, they might even considder switching to linux for it. shouldn't all forces then be behind amarok? :D

ps and sorry for me being rude, I didn't want to be so hard on you. its great you wrote this code, for others to use... much worse things are done to computer users >:-( - Mar 25 2005

what I am looking for is a way to see the size of files. I have a 512 mb usb mp3 player, and I want to have it full. so I have to copy a bunch of files, hope they'll fit, then try to add as many as I can. If I had some way of knowing how big the files in my playlist where (eg have I reached 512 mb yet or not) then being able to copy all files in my playlist with 1 click (or drag'n'drop) to my usbstick would work. now it doesn't... :( - Mar 21 2005

I know the ubuntu/KDE people probably want to include your effect by default in the next release of ubuntu/KDE edition. I'd say go for this one (if you can persuade them) as this looks best. you'd first have to get this working with KDE 3.4 (which is released, officially, btw). - Mar 17 2005

hey

I think you should really try to do something to the cpu-usage. on my system (amd 2000+) it uses 15% cpu - without it (runing liquid weather and mca and the album script within amarok) cpu use is between 10 and 15, if i use amaroker(blue), it jumps to 30-35!!! - Mar 16 2005
this is cool ;-)

btw you seem to make you're toolbar as big as you can, while I try to slim it down as much as I can:

Konqueror Search (Mockup)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by earth 21 comments

as some others here are saying, another search bar is not the way to go. why not do the same as now, exept we match better and hide non-matching icons? now you can type the first letter in konqi, and it'll bring you to the appropriate icon. but if you continue typing, it won't work. if that would work, I think konqi would be quite a bit more usefull... - Mar 13 2005

nice work ;-)

could you maybe add this view to the picture preview in konqueror??? I'm talking about the border around the pics, its very cool. maybe make it a bit smaller (it wastes quite some space now) but the shadow is very cool :D

and this info on the left, you might add something like this to the KDE file open/save dialog, so it gives more info about the pics. And does it allow changing these parameters? would be very cool...

to say it in short: I love to see some of these things in KDE, but another showimg/showfoto/gwenview/kuickshow/etc etc might be overkill... why not send a patch to their authors? esp gwenview is very cool, maybe you can improve that app?

after all, the point of free software is you can colaborate on software, send patches, and change things instead of building someting *again* because you can't use the source of another app... - Mar 11 2005

I had to kill kwin and restart it to get rid of the line under the windec, and to get the animations to work. I think others using my .deb will have the same problem. turning of text shadow etc DID work, by the way.

well, as you saw in the screenshot, the kicker can be an excelent sidebar... I made a new kicker panel, added the styleclock, and then did the mockup thing. but I don't think the universal sidebar is very usefull... the kicker can do these things itself. I think the other panels should be integrated with the kicker, like the kasbar and the universal sidebar (I'd rather see a kicker applet that can embed the universal sidebar-things) - Feb 24 2005

Hi,

I tried basked a few times, its cool, but - well, its like I just don't use it. I've been thinking about this, and I think its mostly because its just another window (you can't drop on the systray, and not drag either).

there is some stack tool, you can trow in things, and get them out of it in the order you threw them in. a bit easier, imho, already. but still...

So I wondered, its nice to have some place to throw things for just a few minutes. but where.

well, why not on the kicker? why not create a kicker applet? So I'm goin' to write a proposal (with screenshot) for this, for KDE-look. I hope I can finish it today (or tomorow) so watch kde-apps/kde-look, if you want to see what I think is THE solution for this.

it does not work here. you installed KDE in /usr/local, well, here it is just in /usr. so the files in /usr/local/kde/lib/kde3 are in /usr/lib and the files in /usr/local/kde/share/kde3 or whatever are in /usr/share. How did you create this package?

try --prefix=/usr when compiling.

anyway, it works now (copied the files to the proper locations) so I won't complain anymore :D

btw, about the blue line: its cool to have it around the window, but imho its annoying to have it under the windeco itself... that way its not smooth anymore. so you can (if you want to) keep it around the window (there MUST be some kind'a line, anyway, a window looks bad without any, make it configurable, or follow the titleblend?) but remove it/allow removal beneath the button bar. - Feb 23 2005
