i mostly use krename to rename say 20 pictures in konqueror. so i select them, rmb - actions - rename with krename. wonderfull, but the next dialogue can take up to 10 seconds on a AMD64 3000+ system! that really sucks... renaming is fast, yep, and the app is wonderfull - but the loading of the initial files is damn slow... :( i hope you guys can see where it stalls and fix it? - Jun 20 2005

KBFX Silk (KBFX 0.4.9.3.1)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by sirajr 613 comments

I have used it. the two-pane menu is only necessairy because microsoft can't handle its menu very well. in linux, your menu has clear and easy categories, like internet and games. under windows, it's just a huge mess. so they had to come up with a solution. under linux, it is a solution to a problem that does not exist. useless. we have buttons on the panel (so your app shortcuts are zero clicks away) and other advanced applets like the command starter. windows' taskbar is utterly useless compared to the kicker. - Jun 08 2005

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by chuliomartinez 5 comments

imho the idea is very cool, pity most apps don't really support losing part of their visible window. but if you DO have a menubar on top of the window (and not the mac-os-like) your windec DOES work! at least it does here :D its very buggy, crashes now and then, and it does not look very well, but again - it works. and i like it. it saves space for usefull things like more kicker panels :D so please - if you can fix the bugs... it'd be great! (here, the app icon and the close button don't fit (and the buttons look ugly). also, there are many artefacts on the windowborders) - Jun 08 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by sirajr 613 comments

make the kde menu have multiple panes, that's the most un-usable menu layout i've ever seen. dunno how microsoft got the idea, but its really BULL* anyway, a request: can you make the applet resize the image i throw on it? ATM i must make a new image for every size of the panel. and if you want, i can send you an image which i use now. this one: http://web.inter.nl.net/users/jospoortvliet/pictures/24KDE-3.5.SVN-gentoo-07-06-05.jpg - Jun 08 2005

all files point to a 0.2beta download. i guess that's not what you intended? and, should it work on kde 3.5SVN? i'll try it as soon as you fix the downloads... (now trying 0.2beta, it works on SVN) can you try to make the menu appear above (or under, if the kicker is on top of the screen) the button, just as the normal K-menu does? - Jun 05 2005

(Project idea) Kaim

Chat & Messenging by DaBlade 18 comments

i don't think it is possible. gaim is coded in gtk, you might rewrite it to QT (which means almost writing it again i think), but unless you do, the kde integration will always remain a hack. a slow hack, that is. and always behind gaim in development.

if you would spend half the time it would take to port gaim to QT/KDE on kopete, kopete kicks gaim's ass on every front :D

look, its not a bad idea, but it won't work. - May 22 2005

might be, but I only have and use KDE as DE, besides that - why even show gentoo if all you daily see is KDE :D KDE is much more visible than gentoo when using your computer. so it really makes sense to show it. btw I'd love to see a similar grub splash and theme... - May 20 2005

btw your earlier windec, why don't you release it? its nice and clean...

altough the suse windec available from this site might be slightly better. the problem with it is I can't do feature requests (i love to see the botom corners rounded, too)

same with linspire style - its nice, but i have some requests and no-one to send them too... (the checkboxes suck, the pressed scrollbar does not follow colors etc) - May 18 2005

they're so flat... the window has a crystal/rounded look, but the buttons look like they are taped on it, they don't blend in, imho.

a change in shape might help (more rounded, trapezoid?) and maybe other color effects.

ehm, sorry about the slider, i was talking about the scrollbar :D
the slider looks really cool. the scrollbar, too, but could you inverse the groove's gradient?!? altough, it is much more clear now what is groove, and what is slider (compared to 1.2) it could still be better.

I'm testing your cvs, and it works fine. altough i don't see mich difference (yet, i guess)... but it did look cool in 1.2, so that's not that bad.

but i have a few requests. first the sliders, i (still?) don't really like them. a way to inverse the gradients would be cool.

and second - you're making many things have sharp corners - could you provide an option to round (almost) all corners? - Apr 28 2005
