How does this compare to graphviz?
http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/graphviz/

I'm using graphviz to display dependencies in assembly lists atm. I have written a small Gambas (Basic) tool to output .dot files for graphviz. Graphviz has very good display algorithms. Does Qanava have it's own algorithms to generate an optimized graph or is it just displaying the graph? - Jan 09 2006

Just out of curiosity:

Can you post an example application for others (like me) to get an impression, what GLAN is all about?
Maybe an example application to demonstrate what GLAN does.

Usually you'd have a frontend GUI app for a backend (lets say a database), where you'd have most of the logic in the GUI application and a dump database just to store the data.

I haven't looked at the code, but I guess, that GLAN does the opposite? correct? - Apr 01 2004

During my studies I have been writing my reports and my diploma thesis with the help of this Latex-"IDE"
Since finishing my diploma a year ago, I did not write anything with latex since then.. You know, when it comes to business it's all about word and excel (well, it's all about crap)...
But now I have to write a report for a governmental institution. The visual appealing of a latex document is far superior to MS Word. MS Word sucks at making a document look good...
And so I came back to good ol' latex and (of course) kile ;-) - Mar 23 2004

Scribus

Office Apps by scribusdocs 61 comments

It can do color separation, has the ability to use (little)cms (color management) when exporting to pdf, so you'll get a good impression what a print will look like...

I've been using scribus 1.1.4 for a 6 page leaflet last week just to try it out... There are some small quirks and the text editor really needs serious work.

Don't get me wrong, scribus is already very useable. There's nothing better on linux/unix at the moment. I recommend this app for small to medium layout tasks. - Jan 06 2004

but _where_ are the svg icons? It's supposed to be SVG, isn't it? All I get are png icons (maybe converted from their corresponding svg icons). When it says Crytal _SVG_ I expect the icons to be in svg format, or am I completely wrong? - Oct 11 2003

Though I'm not a native english speaker...I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be "mail_reply" and not "mail_replay"... well even if the latter one would be kinda interesting (how about kmail reading out new mail....?) Just nitpicking.... great stuff! - Sep 23 2003

'cause cats have really good eyes... My guess is, that your cat actually does not see kde-look but the constant refresh cycle of your crt monitor.
For human eyes the refresh rate of a standard crt screen may be sufficient, don't know if it's fast enough for a cat to not see a flickering picture. - Sep 04 2003

did you link kde against an older snapshot of qt3.2? If you're experiencing more font problems, get the final qt3.2 release.... - Aug 31 2003

> And where is the shadow of the desktop fonts?

First I guess it's broken due to probems with the qt snapshot and my freetype lib.... There's also no antialiasing for truetype fonts available atm... (SuSE 8.2)

And the entry for the shadow of desktop fonts was moved to another config-file and I don't know exactly what it was... - Jul 21 2003

very good! This could eventually evolve in a very clean and simple Icon theme. Maybe rethink the folder icons. I know what it should be, but maybe a simple cube which opens on the top and not on the side would be easier to recognize... well, maybe - May 23 2003

New style 'Different'

definitively without gradient.
My experience is: gradients may look
good for a single button or so, but if you use em everywhere it gets disturbing... Keep the design 'flat'.

That makes the style much more useable
