Yeah, sudo is not installed on the Suse by default, so you have to install it manually. Or you can use the "su" command, and then run "make install"

P.S. Make sure that you have the latest Murrine engine. - Sep 24 2010

If you know the author of this article, so please let him know, that there is NO NEED for Equinox engine, the theme uses only Murrine engine.
The second thing is that the Elegant GNOME PPA contains the Murrine engine from Git, so you install all the stuff you need from this PPA.
On Ubuntu Maverick the theme works out of the box. - Sep 24 2010

First of all, look at this:
http://itmages.ru/image/view/60231/17795a70
This is the Elegant GNOME pack on fresh Debian installation.
As you can see, everything works as it is.

Quote:I have murrine engine installed and I did log out/in.
If you have the murrine engine from Debian repo, so the theme WILL NOT work with it, coz it's too old. And actually i've wrote in description, that you must have the latest murrine engine from Git.

It's not critical to have the Nautilus Elementary, but the regular Nautilus will look quite ugly with this theme, coz it was optimized for Nautilus-Elementary.

So what you can do. I've just tested the Ubuntu packages on Debian and they work fine, so:
1. Remove previous installation:
a)In Elegant GNOME app choose the "Restore the previous settings"
b) Run in terminal: sudo make uninstall
2. Download this tarball:
http://ompldr.org/vNW1lYw/elegant-gnome.zip
3. Install this .deb packages
4. Run in terminal:
cd /usr/share/icons/AwOken/clear/128x128
ln -fs ../start-here/start-here-debian.png ./places/start-here.png
cd /usr/share/icons/AwOken/clear/24x24
ln -fs ../start-here/start-here-debian.png ./places/start-here.png
5. Launch Elegant GNOME app and install the theme.

This is an explanation of how the backup and restoring function works:
Quote:So let me explain how it works. When you install the pack, the utility creates the full dump of the gnome's settings, so that means, after removing the pack, all your gnome settings(including the compiz settings) will be restored to the values that were before the installing the pack. Actually that means, when you make some changes in the gnome settings after installing the pack, you will lose this changes as soon as you will choose the "Restore the previous settings", because the Elegant GNOME app will use the settings that it has backuped before.
Hope now you're understand how it works.

If someone will complain with the same problem, i'll check everything again, but until i'll not get some instructions how to reproduce the problem, i'm really useless. - Sep 20 2010

The Google Chrome is a pretty good and fast browser, but when it comes to GTK intergration, this app becomes a piece of crap. Ok, I'm not gonna comment the part related to the appearance, this is all just about your tastes. I'll just say a few words.
First of all, i hope you were running the latest 0.8.0 version, coz in the latest release I've worked alot at the GTK theme's look. The second thing about the theme - yeah, i'm the one who hates the glossy, too much gradient themes. There're too much dark themes, which got all this stuff, that's why actually i've started this project. The window border buttons are simple, but they do the job. I wanna you to understand - I'm not creating something revolutionar,y i'm creating the most complete, usable and bugless dark gtk theme.

Quote:I don't know how, but I think it may have buggered up my gdm. Now, every time I log out and back in again I have to type in my name (single user machine) and I can't seem to get it back to the way it was using Ubuntu's Login Screen applet. I'll figure it out though.
Don't really understand this part.

Quote:but they were annoyingly removed when I uninstalled it.
Mm.. Do you understand how the packages install in the system?

If you had the AwOken and Neutral folders in /usr/share/icons before installing the pack, when you install the elegant-gnome pack(wich actually also contains the AwOken and Neutral folders), the AwOken and Neutral folders in /usr/share/icons will be replaced with the folders that come with the elegant-gnome package. And of course, when you remove the elegant-gnome package, the folders AwOken and Neutral will be removed.

Restoring function just restores your previous settings and it do this as it should. I've tested it too much times, so I can say
confidently that it works fine. - Sep 12 2010

1. As I've already said, I can't create something that everyone will like, in my opinion the new cursors looks better with the GTK theme, but if you think that this is not right, you can still use the cursors you like.

2. Actually you already can do this. Look for the "Configure GDM2 theme" menu entry.

3. First of all, I wanna you to understand that i'm doing all this just by myself in my free time. So besides creating the pack, I also make the packages for Ubuntu,Linux Mint and Archlinux. After the package is done, I have to test it to make sure that it works as it should. So this takes actually a lot of time. In the future(like in 2 month or less) I'll have to create the packages also for Ubuntu Maverick. The problem of the Debian is that I'll have to create the package for git version of the Murrine engine, the package for Nautilus Elementary and finally for the Elegant GNOME. So if i'll do this, i'll not have a time for developing the pack.

So if someone will help me with the packages for different distros it'll be great, but because of the frequent updates of the pack, I cant support all the distros just by myself. - Sep 09 2010

Actually there're packages at least for Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse, Mandriva, Archlinux, becouse my theme is not the first wich uses the unstable murrine engine.
