Actually Ubuntu Maverick uses the new engine from Git. This theme will work out of the box in Ubuntu Maverick, so I don't see any reasons why not to use the new cool features that gives a new Murrine engine. - Sep 06 2010

Wow, you've really surprised me. But i'm not really understand the Suse maintainers' logic :) Why they put the themes in /usr/lib :D

Maybe You HAVE NOT noticed, but this this IS NOT just a theme.

For the end user there are the packages, which you can easily install and update.

Quote:Fonts should be possible install just by copying them to correct folder.
The pack doesn't install the fonts! This is on your choice how you will install it. I've just wrote that you must have it.

Quote:All GIT versions of the engines should be limited as well.
Why are you not saying this to the Ubuntu developers?

Actually it looks like you haven't even installed the pack before saying your opinion. - Sep 05 2010

I just don't want to spend a time on creating the packages, coz i still have a bunch of things to do. But I can say exactly, that the stable(1.0) release will be available for both Lucid and Maverick. - Sep 05 2010

GTK2 Themes by arobase 784 comments

Actually it doesn't depend on the theme.
The pidgin use his own color for the status and idle text. Solution is:
1. Confirm this bug http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/12572
2. Go to Tools -> Plugins. Enable the plugin "Pidgin theme editor". Then go to Tools -> Pidgin theme editor -> Edit buddylist theme. - Sep 03 2010

Thanks for your comment, actually after update you should run the Elegant GNOME app and "Reinstall the pack", after that - restart the X server, that's it.

I'll add this information into the Description. - Sep 03 2010

So the solution for you is to "Restore the previous settings" , then make the all changes you need for the compiz and then "Install the pack" :) - Sep 03 2010
Elegant Gnome Pack

GTK2 Themes by arobase 784 comments

No, the pack doesn't change the compiz settings, but I think that I understand what you are talking about.

If i'm not mistaken, when you update the pack, you chose the "Reinstall the pack" menu entry in the Elegant GNOME app.

So let me explain how it works. When you install the pack, the utility creates the full dump of the gnome's settings, so that means, after removing the pack, all your gnome settings(including the compiz settings) will be restored to the values that were before the installing the pack. Actually that means, when you make some changes in the gnome settings after installing the pack, you will lose this changes as soon as you will choose the "Restore the previous settings", because the Elegant GNOME app will use the settings that it has backuped before.

When you choose the menu entry "Reinstall the pack", this is the same if you would choose the "Restore the previous settings" and then "Install the pack" - Sep 03 2010

The icon can't appear just by itself. So if you really need the icon for this application(actually this is a first time when I hear about this app), you should make a request.

Stop spamming, there is no need to create a new artwork for each gtk theme. You can just start a new artwork and make a download links for different variations of your theme. - Aug 26 2010

In Emesene go to Options -> Preferences.
Choose the "Theme" tab and check the "Disable text formatting" checkbox. - Aug 26 2010

I've already said about this once before, this is not a theme-related bug, Shotwell doesn't use the GTK colors for the sidebar, so you'll have the light-grey background on the sidebar with any GTK theme(You can easily check this). Write a bug report for the Shotwell developers. - Aug 25 2010

Actually before changing the GTK theme, i've made a preview of a new theme, to get a feedback, and i've got more positive feedback than negative. Also I like the new improvements that come with the new Murrine Engine, that's why i decided to use it in the new theme. One more good thing about new theme is that it uses only one GTK engine, instead of 2(Re Crono). The Re Crono theme was a good start, but i'm not gonna stay with it forever. - Aug 25 2010

I can't make the theme wich everyone will like, it's impossible. In this theme i've changed the stuff that i didn't like in the previous theme. Someone will like the new theme, someone won't, but the project can't stay on the same place. So this is the users' choise to be conservative or to move on with the project. No, the new theme doesn't use the Equinox engine. Actually i've never tested the script under XFCE(and i'm not gonna do this), that's why the name of the project is "Elegant GNOME", but not "Elegant XFCE". So you can just install all the stuff manually.

About the cursors theme, this is on your choise. In my opinion Comix cursors doesn't suit the new GTK theme, that's why I chose more "classical" cursors theme. - Aug 23 2010

Actually, this icon set based on the AwOken icon theme v 0.9, so I think it'll be better if you complain about the icons-related issues to the author of this icon set. Coz in such way you'll help to make this icon set better and also you'll prevent a double job for me and the author of this icon set.
