i'm not 100% sure (couldn't find any info about it) but i think the site is pretty new, so that's likely the reason why you get so many "Lyrics not found" results. i hope that changes as more people become aware of it and starts contributing lyrics (i myself have already started and will continue to do so).
about what happens when files have no tags... well... i realize just know i haven't done any test for that. i'll see what i can found.

and it still doesn't work? if that's the case, please try the following commands in a console:
which <full path to lame>
which <full path to oggenc>
each should return the programs path (the same you specified) and an error code of 0, else the script will report those executables as missing (this has been corrected and 'which' will no longer be needed to check for executables in future versions). - Jan 27 2006

open configure dialog / programs page and press "guess" buttons for oggenc and lame. if the full path doesn't appear in the line edits then those programs are not in your PATH and you'll have to enter the full paths yourself. - Jan 25 2006

yes, you're not the first one to point that out...
i thought of changing the name to 'transKode', but then again, people will think that it's a transcode frontend (the video editing tools).
i'm open to suggestions if you (or anyone else) have any. otherwise i'll probably just go with transKode for next release.

it seems your version of taglib is older than the one i used.
try installing transcode from source (configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` && make && make install). - Jan 06 2006

as far as i can tell, mplayer/mencoder cannot encode to wma (it can decode wma files though, and its already being used for that) - Dec 04 2005

though i only tested it with gcc 4.0.1 (what i currently have installed) i seriously doubt i can't be compiled with older versions of gcc (it would make more sense if it were the other way around).
try editing the *.pro files on the source dirs to match your kde/qt setup and running "qmake *.pro -o Makefile".
then do "make && make install" from the source root dir (the one with transcode.pro).
i you want further help you'll have to give me something more than "i'll i get is compile errors".

two separate things:
first: importing of xml.dom.ext package was a mistake. i was using it for debugging and i forgot to remove it. the only required xml package is xml.dom.minidom (i don't know if is standard or not). you may comment or remove that line or wait for v0.2.
second: yes, it is necessary to call the binary from the script to run the configuration dialog. though the main script is in written in python the gui is a stand alone program written in c++, so that pyqt bindings are not a requirement (i always had troubles installing them). i haven't really thought 64bit processors could be a problem until now, but shouldn't a 64bit processor be able to run 32bit applications in compatibility mode? anyway, if it can't, you can still recompile the gui yourself. the code is copied with the rest of the script to $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/transcode.amarokscript as config-source.tar.bz2

ps: i'm also learning python here ;-) as this is mi first python program - Aug 11 2005

i have looked at how this was handled by other scripts, including amarok_live. it's not that i don't know what that line is doing there, it's there so that the scripts ignores the SIGTERM, and that's intentional (or it was until now at least). the program properly closes itself when (if) stdin is closed so if it ignores the signal but react to that (the closing of stdin) proper cleanup is performed in an "elegant way" (whatever that means). only problem with this is (or should be) that execution of the script doesn't stops when the user presses stop but when the script ends whatever encode it's doing (still, this doesn't explain why the entries remain there in some cases). anyway, i'll probably add the function to handle the SIGTERM signal in version 0.2, since, though i don't like it very much, it kinda makes sense that the program ends when the user says it should. - Aug 11 2005

thanks for answering, i forgot to mention that.
you'll have to use one of the 1.3 betas or current svn. try get-amarok-svn.sh script (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=27313) - Aug 09 2005

should we report bugs somewhere else? (should we report at all? ;-)
*most dialogs allow resize but don't have layouts defined (so resizing is useless).
*"Clean yum's cache" "clean all" option executes "yum -y clean" which doesn't work. should execute "yum -y clean all" instead
*i'm not sure this is a bug, but i couldn't compile it on fedora 4. i get "DlgInfo.cpp:234:23: error: DlgInfo.moc: No such file or directory". no problems with the rpm though.

great tool, btw. keep up the good work. - Jul 12 2005

true... but how many of those people will actually use this app. there are already similar apps with better integration to other desktops (such as xchm, same functionality but gtk/gnome look... given a choice i don't see why they'll go for a qt based one). integration with kde has a lot more to offer than an open dialog, i think this app would gain a lot by adding some of kde standard features (configurable toolbars and keybindings to name some stuff common on most kde apps). btw, why call it kchmviewer and not qchmviewer?

anyway, good app. best chm viewer for kde i've found. - Jun 19 2005
