It would be really cool to be able to change not to only the title but also exif metadata. Will it be able to ?
Note Reading exif metadata like the shot time would also let the user sort pictures from several cameras (with different naming scheme) in the right chronologic order before renaming them all.=> very usefull when collecting all the pictures after a mariage ;) - Mar 11 2008

My question is: how does it work? Does it only find and extract the avi sequence embedded inside the flv file or does it do a re-encoding? (In the second case there would be a loss of quality) - Apr 22 2007

And why did nice guys make KDE while gnome exists?
You get it! Just because they thought things could be better(or simply different) a slightly different way.

This way you make sure that only administrators and people having some basics in Linux will be able to access dangerous options.
I'd really like to have such a possibility to let my mother use kcontrol on her machine.
Whatever, the idea is good this is a way to merge simplicity and high configurability in a single OS.

Moreover, I read that KDE philosophy is to give users choice, to please purists as you seem to be as well as my mother who barely understand what is a file.

If this soft can do it for me it is fine. At least it increases for me KDE's usability.
Eventually, I agree it has to do it a clean way, fitting the global desktop architecture not to make it more complicated. - Feb 15 2005

I had to intall it as root, what I do not really like as it is not (currently) part of my distro.
but I really enjoy it anyway
A more customizable intall could just make it better
thanks for the hard work

I think this is a very good application missing just few things to be almost perfect (for me)
what i suggest
- bigger font for steps title and long description to make the process more clear in mind.
- step 7: the third option should be "COPY and convert images". I was doubtful and scared of loosing data, so i had to save images before giving this option a test (was confusing by option 2 which does state "copy and ....")
- step 1 a third option "configure kallery" with some options such as default paths/relative paths, load foders recursively or not ...to get a simlified interface where it is pertinent
What i liked in it:
- does almost everything i was waiting from it
- does nothing more and useless
what i really liked:
- it is simple, light and standalone application. The interface is just a wizard without menu, tabs ... it is ... fresh :)
i'll keep using kallery
