Various Stuff by caminoix 13 comments

of course, your way is much nicer but i'd fear it's just too polite. i mean, this very upload's been voted down a good deal of times, and not many reasons have been given, as you can see. i'm afraid people wouldn't even take the time to read it in most cases. - May 14 2006

but i'm afraid that basing on the rating i've got it looks like we're minority :/ - May 14 2006
reason for voting down

Various Gnome Stuff by caminoix 26 comments

if i prefer ratings which are too high (you can still see the real rating by looking at _how much too high_ they are), or ratings which drop down without any reason, and where every one who's never done anything can vote you down just because so was his fancy of the day.

yes, it seems to me, too, like the site admins have done the site, advertised it and stopped ever taking care any more. - May 14 2006
reason for voting down

Various Stuff by caminoix 13 comments

1. forcing:
i said "perhaps too extreme". you're right, reminding would probably be enough.

2. flamewars etc.:
if it's just reminding, you'll still have a chance not to incite any.

3. anonimity:
i'm sorry but i think voting down anonymously just for the sake of anonymity is cowardry.

if users have the right to say they like sth or not by voting on it, i think the authors should have the right to know why their work is liked or not, too. after all it's them who'd spent a lot of time doing it. - May 13 2006

yeah, well. the funny thing is that this very upload got quite a few votes down, and you're the only one to have commented it. thanks for that :)
it's like some journalist in the usa once wrote an article saying the americans sue one another for just about everything. as you may be guessing, he got sued by over a dozen of people... - May 13 2006

Various Gnome Stuff by caminoix 26 comments

hmm, i don't know exactly how the rating system works. to be honest, i've always thought it's a bit queer. just ordinary points would seem a better solution to me.
anyway, i can see this very upload's been voted down at least a few times but only got two comments...
do you think i'm wrong guessing that those who upload nothing or hardly anything are the first ones in the queue to vote other people's work down? - May 13 2006

when there's a file (f.ex. mypage.html) and its backup (mypage.html~) in one directory, it simply moves mypage.html~ to mypage.html, or in other words, restores mypage.html to the backupped version. - Apr 27 2006

Kbfx Startmenu by caminoix 2 comments

thanks :)
i'm sorry but i don't quite understand you.
for both, hover and pressed, only the chrome part changes, the background remains the same. in hover it may look as if background changed due to the "glowing" effect, but this is what i actually meant it to be... anyway, i'll try to come up with something more discreet.
the "connection" is not colorized.,, it's all black and white + the chrome effect. - Apr 18 2006
Fiberia skin for YaKuake

Yakuake Skins by caminoix 8 comments

replying here; looks like threads can't get too long on kde-look.

anyway, my point is that i can hardly believe it was really this script that crashed your system. i'm quite positive it must have been a pure coincidence.
you can see for yourself all it does is just changing a couple of files in yakuake's themes folder, and i really don't think this might possibly have any serious influence on the kernel.

could you please try to do the same thing again and see if it crashes again?

well, if it does, i should think the bug ought to be reported to the yakuake developers, not to me. - Apr 18 2006

Fiberia skin for YaKuake

Yakuake Skins by caminoix 8 comments

well, i've got some skins and options in yakuakerc, too, and ran it from yakuake and nothing happened... surely no crash whatsoever.

2. i know that. but i've never seen a kernel panic during a system run.

3. i have both, too.

btw, i'm running linnexos which is based on pclos, and my yakuake's fully updated, too.

this is a truly weird thing. i didn't even know yakuake was capable of crashing the kernel at all :/ - Apr 12 2006

hmm, that's funny... it works just fine for me... what sort of problem do you have with it?

what do you want to make the ~/.kde/share/config/fiberia/ for? it's not needed, i think...

the [Options] part is needed. see http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=36354 where i had made a mistake not adding it, and it didn't work properly than. - Apr 12 2006

1. this lady is beautiful, just beatiful (obviously, not as much as my wife in case she read it ;)
2. i don't think i could think nudity is offensive in itself. human body can be really beautiful (though not every single specimen actually is...) and what could be wrong in showing sth beautiful?
3. nevertheless, the overall artistic quality of this picture is not so to say stunning.

don't you guys think 3. is more important than 2.?

well, yes, ok, this is a good argument.
i'm sorry i haven't thought about that. it's because i've never before heard of anyone who uses linux because he can't afford windows.
anyway, i can't believe everyone who votes this sort of things up would in fact want to have windows but just doesn't have the money for it, so my question remains valid, i should think. - Mar 31 2006

1. you really don't need the windows logo on a linux box;
2. i'm not sure i want to compete with windows in the 1st place, but even if i did:
learning from your opponents means adopting what they have better, and not simply copying the look;

why do so many people on kde-look think the ideal look is that of windows? if you prefer windows, why do you use kde? - Mar 31 2006
